i am sorry, i dont really care how time travel works, i dont care why the island has these weird things that happen on it.
You are supposed to suspend your belief. So some things werent answered... I dont care...
They mysteries are lagniappe. The only thing i cared about being resolved are the characters.
Josh Holloway said that the thing this show is most about is the characters and the relationships and everything else is extra.
It was good.

Desmond never knew Boone or Shannon.
Desmond was the first one to awaken that REALLY wanted to awaken everyone else.
He got the flight manifest and looked up specific people on the flight whom he knew were important to the people he was close to. I think that is why you see Penny, Boone, and Shannon.
It was Desmond's perspective in a lot of ways because he was the catalyst who did most of the choosing of persons to awaken.

Speaking of Josh Holloway, who wants to see him in "Snakes on a Plane 2: Electric Boogaloo"?

I think we know know that the Egyptians came to the Island much longer before the Romans...considering the hieroglyphs on the plug/cork. It's pretty obvious to me that they built the temple and the statue before the Romans arrived...they just didn't expressly show this. I'm fine with that.
Greeks before both. Jacob's family seemed more Grecian or some other nondescript Hellenistic society. Jacob and mommy weren't putting hieroglyphs on their weaving until later. there seemed to be a lot of Egyptian drama that went down that we didn't see.

Josh Holloway and Ken Leung in a buddy cop drama

Why do people keep trying to say the island wasn't real? Christian told Jack at the end that he lived through that when they were having their "what is real" discussion. Not to mention Matthew Fox said on Jimmy Kimmel that the island was real.

Plenty of pages on this, no need to repeat. Search for TigerMyth's posts. And mine.

It was fun the first 3-4 repeat debates, why not another one?

So i guess the basic summary of the episode is as follows:
There was no split timeline. Jack died on the island. Kate, Sawyer, Lupidus, Miles all flew the jet off the island and lived their lives after they got back to civilization. Hurley served as protector of the island, and Ben served as his aide. When they all died at their various times, they then went to "purgatory" which we know as sideways world. When they were "ready" in "purgatory" they realized what had happened and were ready to move on. So they all did. No telling how long that took. Remember, "There is no now here, Jack" per Christian.
Christian says the time Jack spent with them was the "most important time of his life."
Kate says "I've missed you" because she presumably lived without Jack for a time after leaving the island.
Hurley tells Ben he was a great number 2 because they actually served on the island in the real world for a time.
Ben tells Locke he doesn't need the wheelchair. He didn't need the wheelchair (or PT to learn to walk) because it wasn't real.
Ben tells Hurley he's not ready yet because he's got "more stuff to work out" before he can move on. This is a traditional purgatory motif. Similarly, Ana Lucia and Daniel Farraday are not ready to move on.
Farraday's mom asks Desmond if he is taking Daniel along. His response: I'm not taking him.
Conclusion: The island was real; sidewaysville was "purgatory".
I agree, but I missed the Elie and Desmond scene. Why did he not want to take Daniel? Is it because he and Charlotte were not ready to move on?

I'll say it again. If it was purgatory, it could have been real at the same time.
If God really made a purgatory, it would be a REAL purgatory even though the people there had died on earth.
Same with Heaven or Hell (if you suspend your disbelief and accept the idea of such places). They are real places that people go to after they physically die on earth. But going there doesn't mean it isn't real.
