Maybe prophesies are red herrings, as they’ve always been. Other than convincing people to go on a quest to fulfill the prophecy, more often than not they don’t come true, at least not like we think they will. Look at stannis.

Maybe prophecies are just old crones hallucinating in a tent and don’t having any effect on the real world

Intentionally misleading your audience for 7 years with no payoff hardly seems like a good thing.

Especially when the ones who believe in these prophecies can do things like raise the dead and light iron on fire.

And let's not forget the great prophecy that they did get right. "Blue Eyes"

The prophecies matter only when the writers want them to. Such as in Cersei's case with her children.

Yes, it's Jon. He is Ice and Fire; Stark and Targaryen.

When did he "wake dragons from stone"?

In the books, Maggie the Frog was pretty spot on, and creepy as hell Patchface nailed things pretty good, even though it was hard as hell to figure out what he was saying. Whoever it was that told Danny that stuff about the Sun rising in the east, and stuff like that seemed to get stuff right.

When he convinced the Mother of Dragons, herself a Targaryen, to join the living in the fight against the Dead; then revealed to her that she would also be fighting with a resurrected Targaryen.

ETA: Forgot to mention where he woke the dragon - Dragonstone.

And the House of the Undying, and the witch correctly guessing that Cersei would marry a king, the correct number of bastards he would have, and that they would never have kids together.

That is the one part that is debatable with Jon. And most expected GRRM to get to. Perhaps him finding out he is a Targ is him awakening a dragon.

You think that's a better fit than the woman that actually woke dragons from stone?

People thought he would learn of his heritage in the crypts of winterfell. Awakening dragons from stone. Which he did in the show. But more was expected.

Dany is very plausible as the Prince(ss) That Was Promised. Arya isn’t.

No. It’s not. But other parts are more linked to him as he actually was reborn. and he is the 3rd child.

So.

Nowhere in that prophecy does it say the Prince(ss) that was Promised will stab the Night King.

By stabbing the night king you end the darkness. So yes it did.

The Prince that was Promised

I lean towards because my boy Maester Aemon basically said it was her.

It was stated a number of times man. I don’t know how you are saying no.

The darkness is gone. The others are gone. Arya did it with no help from anybody.

Are you trying to say the prince just needed to be in the area?

I think it's a little better, but not so much that anyone could be 100% certain. I think that Jon is Ice & Fire, was reborn, and woke the dragon. For me, Jon is the better fit for the prophesy.

Danerys is a pretty good fit, too. It may well be her.

But, it's not Arya just because she knifed the Night King, that I'm certain of.

What have Dany and Jon done besides bring an army to deserve that title? There’s nothing Cersei could do that would start a 10,000 year old prophesy about the Darkness.

Well, they built said army and lead it into the battle. That's pretty significant.
