Also, the biggest plot hole in the movie —in addition to the McAllisters not calling their own home to see if Kevin would answer — is the fact that they never called the cops back. Never called the Village PD back to see how the check-in went, how/what the officer reported back, etc.
Didn't they mention that the phone lines were damaged in the freak storm that happened the night before?

The ADA stamp is on the freaking package!!! When she’s looking at the toothbrush it’s literally plain to see in the left hand corner !

They did. As they were leaving for the airport, the phone guy told the mom it would take a few days to repair the phone lines.

I’m just glad I’m not part of the McAllister family. How the frick do you lose your son two years in a row for Christmas!

Calm your shite, man. I didn’t call into question your devotion to the thread, it’s just I think I and everyone else in this thread stop giving any of the benefit of the doubt to any of the McCallisters once Kevin ordered the pizza. Some posters here though are making a hell of a good argument that that moment was actually when his parents were speaking with the police in the first place.

And while I won’t read through this entire thread again tonight to see if this has been brought up (although I’m almost sure it has), but Kevin’s parents couldn’t call up their fricking preacher to get the kid? It’s established in Home Alone 2 that Kevin is part of the choir for God’s sake. Maybe the local preacher was a well known pedophile, but other than that, no excuses for the McCallisters.

To pay for the entire family to go to Paris, Peter had to skip on the tithe for a month or two. Made things awkward between the McCallisters and the church for a bit.

The part of this which pissed me off was that Kevin was 8 in HA but 10 in HA2, yet per the story line, he was left alone two years in a row. I wish they'd go back and fix it.

Peter's (non-cheapass) brother in Paris paid for the trip.

Nothing to overanalyze for me. I just want to point out the best line out of both movies is the beginning of Home Alone 2 when Kevin told his dad, "Uncle Frank told me not to go in there when he's showering. He said if I ever saw him in the shower, I would grow up never feeling like a real man."

Whatever that means.

This may have been covered before, but did you as a kid or your kids ask why Santa didn't pass in Home Alone? My kids have never asked and as they get older I thought they may. Kevin puts the milk and cookies out, but it clearly hasn't been touched and no presents have been delivered. Maybe because Kevin is 'bad' would be the reason if you asked a kid?

I believe my parents explained to me is that Santa gave his parents back to him as his Christmas present.

Yeah, that's a good explanation.
Would've been kind of cool if the cookies would've been eaten and milk drank, but never covered or mentioned how. Kept the exact same scene and as the camera is panning you would see the cookies and milk had been touched. Would've opened up a whole another debate on who ate and drank them??

But Kevin orders a pizza (presumably by phone), and Peter is able to successfully call his neighbors and leave a message on their answering machine when Marv and Harry are robbing it.
Unless they want you to believe that only the McAllisters' house was affected, that's a pretty big hole.

To back up what you said, Kevin does ask the Tic-Tac Santa that instead of presents, he'd just like his family back. I had forgotten about that.

I just assumed they went to a private Catholic school and were likely not overly religious. Although he did bless his highly nutritious microwave dinner.
