It takes a few episodes to all gel together, but once it gets setup Hill House is fricken spectacular

What’s the Eddie Murphy joke about white people and horror movies? A couple of episodes in and that’s the reoccurring thought I have.

Good news. I've been wanting to watch it too, but just haven't and have passed over it in my NF list countless times.

You should put this series near the top of your list if you still haven’t gotten around to it. One of my favorite seasons of television I’ve seen in the last few years.

It’s a bit of a slow burn the first couple of episodes, but it sets up the rest of the show. I know it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I think it’s a masterpiece.

Just finished this last night and it was one of the best things I've watched in a long time. Wife and I usually hate horror, but decided to watch something scary for a change, and got absolutely hooked.

The story was amazing, and the horror was very well developed and they didn't rely on gore/jump scares, which I loved.

The storm episode was one of the best things I've ever watched, if only because of the camerawork.

Was a little disappointed in the ending, but overall a solid 9/10.

The Broke Neck lady screaming from the back seat got me bad. REAL bad.

I liked the hill house over the bly manor. Not a big fan of haunting shows, poltergeists and paranormal have never been my source of fun fear

Does this have anything to do with the movie A House on Haunted Hill? 1999 version to be more exact.

Now watch The Haunting of Bly Manor. I'll admit. The end got me, was done so well.

Shirley Jackson wrote the book, and it’s very good. All of Jackson’s work is strong. “The Lottery”, “We have Always lived in the Mansion”…

I think it’s “We Have Always Lived in the Castle.” A movie version was made not too long ago.

Welp, five years after posting in this thread and I still haven't watched it yet. I may crank this up finally, now that it's October.

Is Bly Manor an actual sequel or is Hill House a standalone season/miniseries?

Follow up: Is Bly Manor good as well?

I think I recall Bly Manor having subtle connections, but nothing that is necessary.

Hill House is pretty standalone. And is still one of the best series Netflix has done.

Bly House was ok. Midnight Mass was way better.

They are separate series with a lot of cast carryover

Hill House was significantly better than Blythe Manner

Yep, I knew mansion didn’t sound right. It’s “castle”, and it was kind of a creepy story, as I recall. A good read, though.
Jackson was a talented writer who wasn’t afraid of dark places…
