Is the expanse worth watching?

Looks like it’s got quite a few seasons, and seems to be right up my alley being apart of the sci-fi genre. Anybody seen it?

Yes. Really good

God yes. The last season fell off a bit with too much focus on one particular character but it is a great show

I thought it was the best TV show in awhile, but I wouldn’t recommend it after the last season.

I haven’t read the books, but it’s a real good sci-fi show and the cast really nails it. I wouldn’t say it’s the best show ever, but definitely worth a watch. They actually get some of their physics straight.

Absolutely yes. Thought everyone was great, but Thomas Jane was fantastic.

Yes, definitely worth watching
This quote reminds me... the story really builds for a few seasons. I had to power through season 1, after which it really got quite good.

I read the books after watching the first season. Fantastic story. Done fairly well.

First four seasons were good but it drops pretty harshly after that. The main guy is not that great of an actor.

Let me google that for you...
Yes it's one of the most "grounded" sci fi shows. I liked it.

Yes. Started reading the books too. They’re fantastic. I liked, but didn’t love the show.

In the world of sci-fi, it is worth a watch. Very grounded in what space travel would be.

It’s one of the better shows on Amazon. It started on SYFY and Amazon kept it going after the cable companies were done with it. If you like sci-fi, it should be right up your alley.

Yes, it is very much worth watching.
When I started watching there were already four seasons on Prime. I binged all of it in a few weeks. It felt like it was the best thing on TV at that point.
Even though Earth and Mars are sometimes at odds, it doesn't have a bunch of silly alien characters like most space shows.

Yes. If you're into sci-fi, it is a must watch. IMO it is the best sci-fi show made. One thing they do such a good job is not just making assumptions about the rules of travelling and living in space. They do a great job of explaining different things and technologies they use so that you're not just left with having to make intellectual leaps into how things work.

What’s the premise
300ish years in the future Earth has colonized Mars and has colonies mining the asteroid belt. What separates this from standard scifi are 3 things:
1) Well crafted political drama between Earth, Mars and Belters.
2) An intriguing scifi mystery that ties into the political drama. I won't go more into it than that to avoid spoilers.
3) Amazingly accurate physics for living and traveling in space. They go to great lengths to get the details right, everything from what happens when you don't lock everything down, to ships being built more like cargo containers than "space planes". Space as a working and living environment is a lot more dangerous than we tend to realize, and the setting of space being so accurately portrayed really takes the show to another level.
I will say seasons 2-3 are stronger than the rest. Others including myself found season 1 a bit of a struggle, but this board assured me it would pay off and it did because season 2-3 are some of the best television produced recently.

I got halfway through the first season years ago and stopped.
Restarted around season 4. Binged all of it in a few weeks and it remains a favorite show. That first season is just completely different in feel/pace than the rest. Everything zooms out and the "worlds" really get big. ONLY downer is it doesn't have much closure at the end IMO. I think there's another book after the show ends, but too lazy to look that up.
Also agreed with poster saying it spends too much time on a certain character that last season

Pretty damn good. Among the best series of the genre.
IMO the “12th man” is the background music and sounds. Really adds to the effect throughout.
