He called out the Jews for running Hollywood. This isn't a secret but also isn't something you can openly say and not have them snap back.
For being such a small minority the Jewish people carry a lot of power in certain industries.

Great movie. Show it to my Intro to World Civ classes every fall around Columbus Day.

A lot of non-dialogue scenes and it is crafted to fit its subject matter perfectly. A+.

Hell, even when there is dialogue, you can't understand it. No, I don't do CC when watching movies.

It is easy to follow without any dialogue and put me in mind of that movie with Rae Dawn Chong, Tommy Chong's daughter in "Quest For Fire".

Just don't tell them it's historically accurate.

I’m still waiting for a sequel.

Not everything needs a sequel. See Gladiator. Just let a masterpiece rest.

I have seen the film 4 or 5 times. And I haven't seen it for a long time, and now I'm wishing I could watch it again. One of my favorites scenes is during the eclipse how he escapes from the ritual and ends up zig zagging along the field.

The pyramid-sacrifice scene is incredibly well done. It still haunts me to this day!

The first time I ever saw this movie it was at like 3-4am after a bar and I was drunk and the city-pyramid scene basically imprinted on my brain

Nah…because the sequel would be a completely different movie. There has never been a good conquistador movie - and we desperately need one. It’s one of the most compelling stories in history.

Agree but it doesn't have to be a sequel to Apocalypto. The story of Hernan Cortes is truly amazing and better than anything Hollywood script writers could come up with. That dude was an absolute savage.

Yeah, I’d be first in line if Gibson made a Cortez movie. I’d additionally like for him to finally make that Viking movie he’s been raving about for years.

Mel Gibson's ability to craft a villain and get you emotionally invested is on full display here.

Many have said they wouldn't change anything, but I have always wished they either cut the jaguar attack scene, or did a better job with the effects on that scene. It's the only "that looks fake" moment in an otherwise perfect movie.

That’s a great scene and a fulfilment of the girls prophesy where the pursuers now knew what they were dealing with.
