Buffalo wasn't a pro. He was trash.

Lecter was the scary intellect gone insane.

Look at who we revel in these top lists. They all have mostly accomplished something before being evil.

Buffalo Bill could be seen as just another run-of-the-mill serial killer.

Lecter was the intriguing character...because he was once a star and very accomplished and of course, he was smart.

Smart villains always carry more cache. Because they can charm...and then you don't expect dread. Vadar was one note - he didn't charm - he just strangled people, let alone Buffalo Bill who hid from society.

The scariest thing in movies is people in our society...who produce but have that evil side.

Like the Nurse or Hannibal...The Nurse is the worst, she is supposed to help you and does everything in her power to fry you...out of spite.

You are absolutely proving my point on how Lector fanboys don't listen at all. Your only point is he's interesting, smart, and creepy, and therefore he must be the best villain ever. Also the fact that Buffalo Bill isn't as smart as Lector, he automatically sucks. Nothing in your nonsensical babble has addressed the fact that he isn't the antagonist whatsoever. In Silence of the Lambs he's not the villain.

But please tell me one more time how he's smart and interesting. Please compare how Hannibal Lector affects the plot of Silence of the Lambs and how Hans Gruber affects the plot of Die Hard. There's no comparison between Lector and an actual villain.

Characters with depth are always more interesting.

It's one of the basic maxims of movies.

Characters who can be evil and yet detect evil are for more interesting than just junkie turds or confused neanderthals.

I think Buffalo Bill is a great villain and a classic character. But he he's a shallow turd.

And reminds you too much of real loser serial killers. We dismiss these people in movies because they are reduced to just being called assholes...as psychiatrists used to call these people...just assholes...a medical profession who were trained to find a reason for dumb idiots to go crazy...they deduced, they're just assholes. Because there was this prejudice of course against stupid people.

What has always intrigued the profession and us in movies is when genius goes bad...even just smart goes insane.

Stunted development isn't that exciting.

Being a genius and then going bonkers...is a story.

You're talking gibberish. You haven't even remotely addressed my points. You still have given me no reason to think Hannibal Lector is one of the greatest villains of all time. You keep on beating around the bush and giving me new terminology on how he's smart and interesting. The only concrete term you've given me is "serial killer". Please read through your post again tell me how you've even remotely described a villain.

Well yeah but he is certainly no hero as the poster implied

That's because the real world isn't so cut and dry. Walter White is a man doing what he has to do in order to provide for his family.

It's because we see the aftermath of his methods that makes him human. So he killed some people. What of it? There are always casualties when the game is played.

Starting at the top:

quote:

100) Donkey Kong- Donkey Kong

Billy Mitchell - King of Kong is a much better villain. So this list starts by going off the rails and never recovers.

"20) Anton Chigurh- No Country for Old Men

12) Walter White- Breaking Bad"

WTF?

yeah y'all mentioned Landa earlier and that dude should be on the list for the opening scene of IG alone. that was one of the most tense scenes in movie history. and he did it being mostly jovial and respectful through most of it

the guy in SL was just one of those "holy shite this dude is evil" guys

What about Hook?

He tortured a man to death in a tiny box filled with scorpions, ordered the death of innocent children, killed the leader of the lost boys, etc...

So many errors in the video game villains.

-Sarah Kerrigan is a great character, but ARCTURUS MENGSK is far worse than she is.

-The Lich King is a great villain, but Gul'Dan and even Sylvanas Windrunner have turned out to be worse

-Kefka is FAR worse than Sephiroth and should be in the top ten of all media. Sephiroth is a whiny bitch with a lot of power while Kefka is basically Joker with the powers of God. Kefka poisoned an entire kingdom's water supply because their leader hurt his feelings.

-All the video game villains and not one mention of Albert Wesker (Resident Evil)

-No mention of Revolver Ocelot or Liquid Snake (Metal Gear Series)...or even Big Boss, who is both the hero and the villain.

-Shang Tsung, Shao Khan, Shinnok, Quan Chi. All great villains from Mortal Kombat. None mentioned.
