Do you guys appreciate the irony of comments like this?

It was an obvious homage to King Of Comedy and Taxi Driver. That is not a negative. Very dark and disturbing.

What irony? I’m a moderate, but explain to me how Ghostbusters 2016 has a higher T-Meter than Interstellar? As I previously stated, even people that hate Interstellar have to find that to be completely insane. From Interstellar haters perspectives, it shot for the stars and tried to 1-up 2001 and failed. That is way more admirable than anything Ghostbusters did, where it made its antagonist a nerdy basement dweller because the actual fans of the series rightfully hated the direction they were taking the franchise. Ghostbusters is such petty holier than thou bullshite that I think a rational Interstellar hater would not hesitate in calling Ghostbusters a worse film than Interstellar.

You were lamenting people politicizing the reviews while basically saying the people that don’t like it don’t like it because they are SJWs

I don’t know and don’t care, that has nothing to do with Joker being a not very good or interesting movie and worse makes what’s supposed to be Batman’s arch villain into kind of a pussy that’s just insane.

Why do so many of you have an issue with a different interpretation of the character? Comic books have wildly different interpretations for all of it's heroes and villains.

The American media that is true. CNN reported on the week of its release “still no theater shootings”. It’s just a fact dude that some of these “journalists” wanted a shooting just to prove themselves right.

Do I think this Joker could take on Batman and be his arch nemesis? No, but I don’t care. The film works on its own terms.

The math of the the way RT aggregates is the short answer. I don't like either movie, but this does seem odd on the surface. Cross check the scores with a website that aggregates with more nuance, Metacritic, and you see how misleading RT scoring can be.
Ghostbusters has a 74% on RT and a 60 on Metacritic
Interstellar has a 72% on RT and a 74 on Metacritic
Since all reviews are just + or - on RT, many of the shrugs of "decent" or "fine" that Ghostbusters received counted as positive. Also, this movie is not nearly as hated out in the real world as it is in internet corners like this one. It got very few damning reviews. It also received very few glowingly positive ones.
Interstellar also got very few negative reviews, but it had a few shrugs of "disappointment" and critics let down by intensely high expectations that were just negative enough to count against its RT score.
The lesson is stop using RT for anything. It's making you guys blame critics for imagined slights. Metacritic also doesn't use reviews from Twitter critics, the ones who produce most of the crap reviews several of you like to cherry pick when you have a gripe against critics.

Personally I just think Interstellar was being rated in comparison to 2001 since its goal was to be that of this generation and not its own terms.

Yeah Metacritic is far superior. I have no idea why people are still stuck on RT.

Agreed. I think a lot of critics gave them both 2.5 stars, but they made them different on the T-Meter. Nothing political about Interstellar, they just thought to themselves “was this equal or better than 2001?” If they decided no, then they would give it a Rotten. When it came to Ghostbusters, I think many critics were bullied into giving it a fresh. Glad Roeper called out all the critics on their bullshite when it came to this.

Critics don't decide in what direction a mixed or 2.5/5 review will lean on RT. RT decides this. From the RT website:
quote:
The team collects movie and TV reviews from Tomatometer-approved critics and publications every day, generating Tomatometer scores. Our curators carefully read these reviews, noting if the reviews are Fresh or Rotten, and choose a representative pull-quote.
Again, keeping it numbers-based would be far less misleading.
Posted on 5/20/20 at 9:10 pm to LuckyTiger
If they gave it a different name without the Joker and comic book tie ins, the ratings would be higher but the box office numbers would decrease.
Posted on 5/20/20 at 9:36 pm to LuckyTiger
Ive tried to watch it twice and just couldnt get into it. Maybe my expectations were too high.

I must have missed the scenes that were favorable to Trump.
