I'm rewatching The Rock and it made curious on how his acting chops would grade out on TD

..can't believe this movie is already 30 years old.

He had a lot of great roles and he has some stinkers.

He can do action or Comedy.

Raising Arizona, Con Air, Face off, Give in 60 Seconds. So many hits.

Lifetime pass for Raising Arizona.

I mostly think he's ok...don't get the fawning over him by some.

Cage might own the greatest range of performances in movie history. By range, I mean he's won an Oscar, had other really notable performances, while also giving cartoonish performances in terrible movies. He seems kind of nuts, but capable of really turning it on at times, and at other times is clearly in it for the paycheck.

Great video.

I also like this old funny video about him not turning down movies.

What’s great is his movies got weirder after this.

Cage is a treasure. We all shite on him for his bad stuff, but he has made a TON of great movies.

He was in Raising Arizona, The Rock, Faceoff and Lord of War, he could make 1/10 movies for the rest of his life and I would still think he's great.

Valley Girl was his peak. Very overrated and overexposed.

Wild at Heart for young Nic Cage and Laura Dern. Southern gothic flick. Great eclectic cast.

Good role, bad role, good acting, bad acting, Cage rarely looks bored. That's a feat unto it itself.

He's a great actor. It's not like I would choose him for any role, but there are a lot of roles where he is one of a very short list of people that could do it well.

See Bad Lieutenant 2, Adaptation, Mandy, etc.
