re: How did Ryan get the job at corporate over Karen?

Ryan had the MBA.
Yeah, a recent MBA grad from the University of Scranton will never land a job as an exec at a company that trades on the NYSE.
Still, like others have said, his interview probably involved him mentioning the website as a way to double sales.

It didn't, but I guess I can buy the Dunder Mifflin Infinity angle though.
What always got me was that they hired him back. He basically defrauded the company and damn near ruined it, and they bartered the deal with Michael Scott Paper Company for Ryan's job back? Even Michael should've known that was aiming far too high. I know that got Ryan back into the office, but still...
Ever since this started airing on CC, I've been watching it a lot. The smugness of Jim/Pam once they're married (and general disregard for the rest of the office) is really standing out to me, especially Pam.
I watched the episode a couple days ago where Jim takes off the whole week for Jury Duty and he had lied about it since he got let out Monday morning. And in the end, the whole office (except for Dwight) is totally cool with it, and even tells Jim to go home with Pam after he brought them up to the office to suck up to everybody and his kids started going nuts. It's supposed to be an "Awww, look at that young couple struggling to make it with two young kids," but it should've been "You've already lied about jury duty and made all of us pick up your slack, and now you're bothering the office with your unruly kids." I mean shite, Andy not only was going to not make Jim take leave for the week he missed (which seems like the most obvious course of action if you're not going to punish him - or fire him like you said), he went all in and tried to lie and cover it up for him. WTF?
Another episode recently that I saw was Ryan's WUPHF episode. Erin was put in an awkward position when she saw Ryan abusing office equipment to use it for his own company. She goes to Pam, who is the "office manager" and what does she say? "It's fine. Don't worry about it." Erin is of course confused, because that is an odd response from someone claiming to run the office. And why does Pam do that? Because she invested in Ryan's company. What a selfish, self-righteous bitch.

Pam was office administrator. It was basically a made up job because she sucked at sales.

Ryan got the job simply b/c he wasn't witness to the shitshow of Jan's firing first-hand, unlike Karen & Michael. It was a damage control move, nothing more. Had Michael managed to keep his mouth shut until after the interviews were over, Wallace would never have gotten desperate enough to hire Ryan in the first place. JMO.

Did it make any less sense than Michael Scott still having a job after all the years of idiocy and incompetence? The fact that he wasn't fired after about 2 episodes really made no sense.

Dude could have been sued for sexual harassment at least once per episode. Although, that's why it was funny.

He ran the best performing office sales wise.

You gonna fire him for being an idiot, b/c that's not really a fireable offense? He obviously wasn't incompetent since his branch always did well, and in David Wallaces words, was the only good thing about the company.

I know. That's what I mean though...that was her job. How she got it was a farce, but in the end that was her position. And she abused it by allowing Ryan to use company materials and equipment for his own company, because she had invested in it.

And yeah, he was an idiot, and inappropriate at times. But all in all he was a valuable asset to DM. Some of my favorite moments on the show were when he "showed up" and showed signs of how good at his job he really was. Like when he got the client at Chilis (and slept with Jan, ). When he made sales. When he faced off with Wallace in the meeting when he had MS Paper Company ("You have a stockholder meeting coming up and you have to tell them all why their company is bleeding to death...maybe I just have to outlast you.."). Etc.

My guess is that Wallace didn't want to hire another fine woman. Jan abused her position and Karen was smoking hot

Because he went full guerilla and took it to the streets, while keeping an eye on the streets. He didn't reinvent the wheel but he made buying paper fun.

Because he was a director for some episodes towards the end of the show
Posted on 2/20/18 at 12:30 pm to Indigold
According to IMDB, he produced 154 episodes of The Office as well as wrote and directed a handful of episodes.

You have to realize that by that point these people had been working together for (in some cases) over a decade which shouldn't have happened. Their asses should've been grass at least 3 times, but crazy shite kept them afloat because show.
If you work alongside the same people for 10+ years, it's not unreasonable that some shite would slide by you. Now, some of this stuff is stretching it, but when you get into season 7 of a show that you only thought would make it 2 maybe 3, you start to stretch out the limits of believable plot lines. It's why Pam's whole season 9 "does he really love me" act was a total joke.
That's why, IMO, there's a massive drop off in the show's quality after season 3. There's another drop off after Michael leaves and it only really gets memorable again around the last 3 episodes.

Also, how do you not know that your Regional Manager was on a boat for 3 weeks?
