Is it confirmed that Sunfyre is dead on the show? WTH?
I don’t think so but wouldn’t put it past Condal. He obviously favors Rhaenyra

Isn't the book supposed to be a sixth-hand account of everything that happened? It was written by a maester like 150 years after all the events occurred. The show is what actually happened.

Everything known about the war, and what caused it all comes from different first hand accounts which all tend to contradict one another.

I think they agree on the big picture stuff like who won what battle and who ended up where. They disagree on the details of how these things came to be. Which is what makes the show fun because even having read it, we still don't know how it went down for sure.

They’ve ruined Daemon this season. What an absolute waste of the best actor on the show.

I can say I did enjoy that scene of the dragon looking at the back of lord Bracken riding away on his horse and then cut to the scene where Daemon says “I didn’t think they would be so eager to die”.

While I like seeing the creepiness of Harrenhal (I love that it’s always raining and leaking ), this is about how I feel about Daemon there right now.

The writers of "The Bear" could learn a thing or two about "haunting" from watching Daemon.

Last night was the first time they needed Mushroom.

I think one of the minor characters will be revealed to be Mushroom at the end.

So they had White Worm's spy infiltrate King's Landing and just sort of left that one hanging. It's been a while since I read the book, but what's the play there? She's going to start spreading rumors and sowing insurrection among the small folk? Is there a specific instance this is foreshadowing from the books? I kept expecting them to come back to that before the end of the episode, but it just kind of got left hanging for next episode?

And: I really dislike what they've done with Daemon. He's pretty much become completely ineffectual and is sidelined from the Dance. I know that's, more or less, canon... but it feels like hes' just sort of confused and weak... not ambitious and cuthroat.

SPOILERS:

I assume this is how Rhaenyra is going to find out that KL is dragonless and ripe for the taking. In the book it is known that she has spies on the inside.

I agree that its boring and makes for shitty TV but in the book they just vaguely say that Daemon went to Harrenhal and raised an army of Riverlanders. Doesn't go into any detail of how he did it or even mention that he is at odds with Rhaenyra at the time. I don't love the direction they took with him but they also didn't have much to go on.

there’s not much else he could be doing unless he was on offense attacking the greens with his dragon in which case that would have been in the book LOL

I’m not sure what people are bitching about with daemons story…he isn’t supposed to be doing anything else

yeah that was good. and by him not killing them it showed he is still somewhat thinking strategically

My only issue is that they're making him a villain and Rhyneara a hero. they were neither just power hungry entitled aristocracy. I realize they have to do that for TV but I can see why others are upset by it. My issue is casting. I love Matt Smith but Daemon is more Jason Mamoa.

I wouldn't say I'm bitching, but I think it's pretty obvious that you have a great character and you are wasting him with a boring story. I mean the Harrenhall stuff is just a giant snooze fest. They are having to make up a lot of this, make up something more exciting for him. I mean he's arguably your most compelling character and for two episodes in a row now you just have him wondering around an empty castle having nightmares/hallucinations and chopping firewood. It's extremely lame. I can't imagine how anyone could even remotely enjoy that story line.

I don’t mind the current thread with Daemon but I do think his character has been altered a bit and I don’t know why. In S1 he was jealous of his brother and niece but every time the chips were down his top priority was always the Targaryen name and his family first. His genuine concern for Vicerys during that difficult walk to the throne and while he was dying in bed. The gesture of giving his “King of the narrow sea” crown to his brother. Protecting Raeynra and then defending her honor. Putting the Sea Snake in his place when he criticized his brother among other examples. Now it seems the writers want to emphasize his jealousy and ambition while erasing the feature of him that made him such a great character imo.

It seems like they spent the first 10-12 episodes building him up as the biggest badass in the country and the ultimate warrior and now that the war has kicked off he is seen as sulking, inept, etc.

Aemond, his Green counterpart warrior, seems to have shifted to a political snake as well, basically usurping his brother.

But I understand in some sense. It's a TV show so they have to create melodrama. Based on the plot line, these two will have to revert to their old form to engage in their ultimate battle. We know what's coming and this present situation is just a detour.
