I’m not sure what people are bitching about with daemons story…he isn’t supposed to be doing anything else
I think people wish he was being a little more conniving and/or brilliant in getting bannerman to the Blacks side. In the book they don't give details but they do say that there isn't a man more respected or feared than Daemon. I think they wish there was more of him strong arming or sweet talking river lords to raise an army and less repetative halucinating.
I am not saying they should change what he did from the books but if they don't have an interesting story to tell, then just move on. We don't need a third of every episode to be him wandering the halls of Harenhal looking for ghosts.

Too many Targaryens with similar first names and hair! Who the frick is who? Not joking….Admittedly, I never cracks open any of the books( I assume there were a few).
The Hodor thread might be a little more your speed. Not trying to be disrespectful but they often refer to characters as "The king's one eyed brother" instead of by name since it does get confusing if you don't kind of study it a bit.

Episode this week sucked. Such filler. I don’t even know what Daemon is doing anymore.

-he believes he is the true heir not his wife/kings daughter
-he used her to get closer to the throne
-he murdered his wife
-he ordered the murder of a child
-he’s actively committing treason
-he cares only for himself and will kill/betray/discard anyone or anything that interferes with his quest for power
-etc
Yes he’s a badass but he’s facing some karma and honestly he deserves it

It's okay, he doesn't know, either.
And my main issue is that he seems befuddled and unsure of himself. He THINKS he knows how to handle the riverlords, but he ends up just pissing them off even worse and his strategy to strongarm them through threatening their families and holdings backfires and ends up solidifying the opposition against him. So what was even the point of him NOT roasting homeboy with his dragon, because his other strategy didn't work, either. I would have rather just seen him roasting them.
He just seems sort of confused that things didn't work out how he anticipated. Maybe that's supposed to be the effect of Harrenhall on his psyche, but it's making a former interesting character just sort of lame.

Agreed. Seems like they are more worried about stretching to 4 full seasons rather than make the most entertaining show possible.

I don't think that's necessarily true or false. I think its similar to Arya with the Faceless men, They have to move the story on in other spots but can't just abandon a central character so they have to show them toiling while other pieces move.
So yes they are stretching it but not because they need more seasons, its because they have to have him doing something and nothing all at once because not much was written about him. He honestly doesn't play a major role in the book until the God's Eye.

What does any of this have to do with making his story so boring and worthless for the last 2 episodes? They could have shown him being a POS and strong arming river lords into pledging their banners to him but instead he just wanders and dreams.
Literally nothing is written in the books other than he takes Harrenhal and raises and army. They could have made his screen time more interesting or just limit his screen time if you can't write anything fun to watch.

My other thought is that I think some of what is going on at Harrenhal is context for Alys Rivers character if they use her as she is in the books. Especially at the point that Aemond shows up at Harrenhal.

This has been my thought all along

I'm trusting the plan, I bet there will be an epic payoff

quote:I guess…but I don’t think it’s boring and honestly it’s kind of humorous which is sorely lacking in this show. I lost it when they flashed to him sitting in his armor wondering what the frick just happened after the dude told him to go frick off. Viserys is the only other person we’ve seen who stands up to daemon and calls him on his bullshite. It was funny and he deserved it. The dude is a major player because of his name and his dragon but honestly what has he done other than hurt people who didn’t deserve it?

He defeated the pirates yes but only after a long and costly war and that was even cheapened by the fact that we didn’t see him do it. For all we know he got lucky…
I think people are mad that one of the only characters with any charisma isn’t out doing superhero shite but again, that didn’t happen in the book and this is what “did” happen, and it’s not out of character at all at least to me

Well if the book is the defense, he didn't hallucinate and dream in the book either. He raised an army. They easily could have had him summon the lords of the Riverlands or fly from castle to castle and raise the army. He could be just as selfish and demand everyone call him King but actually do something rather than just toil. They also could have still had some lords stand up to him and talk down to him.
The point is that wandering and dreaming is fine for a bit but its growing extremely tiresome. The only real explanation is that its all the work of Alys Rivers and they are using this time to set her character up as a witch rather than this being truly about Daemon. But still, we got the message after last episode, there was no need to keep the charade going.

I know how this all ends so to wish for different is folly. But I’m still team black.
Again, the fat man has written it all already but hypothetically if this was unwritten and the war was for the taking…
After last episode, Rheanyra should gather all dragons and meet at Harrenhall to rally Daemon, then they all converge on Kings Landing with what, 4-5 dragons against Vhagar. Heleana is unfit to ride Dreamfyre. So they outnumbered them right?
Get Corlys to invade by sea, burn the frick out of KL and they have it. That’s it, that’s the war. 5 against Vhagar is enough to win in addition to Corlys’ ships. frick a ground army
Am I forgetting a dragon for the Greens? It’s just Vhagar right? It’s been awhile since I read it
Am I forgetting some Green dragons at this point?

Tessarion is in Old Town but he is a smaller dragon more like Arrax or Moondancer.

burn the frick out of KL
This is the issue. If you burn KL then the people you rule will hate you. I don't think she'd need to do that, just draw Vhagar out and kill her then go to Old Town and kill Tessarion. No need to burn cities. Once they have no Dragons, the war is over.

From what we see in the trailer for the next episode, she takes Kings Landing with her dragons.
Then the throne starts cutting her.
Then the throne starts cutting her.
