Let's just say that - if they go with a black Hermione - I'll be deathly interested if they feel the need to change the story in order to make it work adequately.

You know, kind of like "separate but equal" Harry Potter sagas. I guess we're making that a thing again.

You will find no instances of me doing this. If I'm not going to watch a show, I am also not going to spend time in a thread about it.

I'll keep discussing the show until it's certain they're going woke with it, and then I'll stop paying attention completely.

Ya know, I give zeros Fs if Hermoine is black or if other characters change heritage - it is a boarding school with kids from all over - not just one section of England, so it would make sense tbh.

Normally I’m not so ready to move on but the actors disgraced Rowling on a different PC level - just for her support of women. Insane and stupid.

Actually looking forward to having the story flesh out characters not seen in the movies - as well give us more insight into existing ones.

Plus, I was watching the first 2 movies recently, and the CGI is just bad. I look forward to much more modern tech for those two movies especially.

The only thing I’d like to keep: The score.

I am pretty sure everything HP needs to be approved by her.
Her approval and actually being involved in the project are 2 different things.

I think he wants to know if she'll be involved.

I’d like to see them keep some of the key design elements, like the castle design. Both of which they kept the same for the trailer.

Yeah, the architecture/design of the castle would be cool to keep as well. The Hogwarts game keeps it somewhat and really expands upon the interior/exterior - that would work as well.

So I feel like the outrage by fans on this is waaay overblown. I loved the books and didn't find the movies to be that entertaining. Loving the idea of HBO doing it right.

I saw this on the HP subreddit years ago, but the idea of each chapter being an episode for all 7 books would be incredible. It would never happen but I hope this is a detailed slow burn.

it's planned for 10 seasons so some books will be more than 1 season it seems.

books 1 2 and 3 could be 1 season. 4, 5, 6, 7, could all easily be 2 seasons each.

What? That's insanity given how child actors age and so on.

They will have to plan to basically film the first 3 seasons at least back to back to back.

The wording was a "10 year commitment" so i could be wrong.

then again what's the difference between filming the movies and TV show?

10 year commitment doesn't mean 10 seasons, it means 10 years of production funding, most likely.

I believe the films took 10 years. However, Streaming shows of this level of production have routinely been taking 2 years at least per season.

HBO will have to crank them out to get 7 seasons in 10 years.

I wonder how many episodes each season is? 10?

Ep 1: Dumbledore and Hagrid dropping off Harry, Harry at Dursley's and Zoo
Ep 2: Letters and escape from Hagrid, Diagon Alley
Ep 3: Platfrom 9 3/4, Hogwarts Express, Sorting Hat
Ep 4: First Few weeks at Hogwarts, introduction of Snape,
Ep 5: Flying Lesson, Quidditch introduction, Reveal of 3 headed dog
Ep 6: Halloween and Troll
Ep 7: 1st Quidditch Match and Mirror of Erised.
Ep 8: 2nd Quidditch match and Norbert
Ep 9: Forbidden Forrest and Firenze
Ep 10: Through the trap door, professor puzzles, Quirrell and Voldemort, end of year feast

I'm just trying to figure out in my head what it would look like if they did it right.

I’ve seen 8 seasons mentioned a few places.

I would be shocked if books 1 and 2 are 10 episodes a piece.

I’d bet the first two seasons are filmed back to back and are 5 to 6 episodes a piece.

I think they can do books 4-7 a lot more justice than the movies.

Sure they left stuff out, but the only part that actually bothered me was when he threw the elder wand away. That goes against everything that Harry was built up to be. Yes he was good, but he had a dark desire to be the best and most powerful.

We are hurdling towards a world where properties just continue on in perpetuity with little if any break in between remake cycles.
