Late to this thread, but...
I don't see anything racist in his statements, and I am fully on board with his position. He wants to direct blacks in starring roles, because he feels there aren't enough horror movies with black stars. So what? I think it's cool, and I actually appreciate his honesty on it.
Just as I can't stand people SJW'ng traditional characters by changing their race, sexual orientation and other such nonsense, I also can't stand people hiding their intentions. He wants to do some things differently with black actors, and he is straight forward about it.
If he says white people suck and have no place in his movies, then racism could be proclaimed. That's not his stance though.
This double standard does indeed exist, and it is unfortunate. I think if a director makes clear his reasoning and that reasoning is legit, then outrage needs to stay stabled.

Just imagine the backlash if a white director said he doesn't want to cast black actors in his movies. HOLY shite you all would lose your shite.

Hard to take someone’s “outrage” over this seriously when they ignore THE SAME shite with other directors.
Wut. Mel directed a movie entirely with native Americans and Hispanics.

"The way I look at it," he explained, "I get to cast black people in my movies. I feel fortunate to be in this position where I can say to Universal, 'I want to make a $20 million horror movie with a black family.' And they say yes." It's a formula he's not interested in messing with. "I don’t see myself casting a white dude as the lead in my movie. Not that I don’t like white dudes," he said, nodding over to his moderator pal Roberts. "But I've seen that movie."
Thanks for that. I saw someone post the Breitbart version, which pulled the context and made it sound bad.
Then I read the full quote and it is way, way tamer than I thought. Peele isn't wrong that there basically haven't been horror movies about black families. Heck, the meme about the black guy dying first in the horror movie isn't wrong.
He wants to do something new and different. I can respect that, and he was pretty clear to say he's not trying to cut white people out, but that the stories he wants to tell center on a certain perspective.
Unless you think the black and white experiences in America are the same, it makes sense that it can change perspective. He's clearly doing well with his point of view, and reading the full quote, calling it racist is silly for me.

The difference is that Peele's movies are actually solid, while Tyler Perry peddles garbage to idiots.

Peele peddles garbage to idiots who don't realize that they're idiots.

Peele is proving what we all already know (shout out to aunt Hilary's "deplorables"), there are no bigger bigots in this country than wealthy, coastal liberals. Only a racist hack would want to limit the pool of talent available for a big budget motion picture. Whatever the white version of an Uncle Tom is, if you are white and give your hard earned dollars to this person after this comment, you are one. Maybe Cardi B will drug and rob you so you can feel like you are on the right side of history.

Not even known racist Mel Gibson would limit himself to just white actors. That really tells you something

What he actually said he didn't want a white lead character. Take this to PT I'm sure they'll eat it up

They're the same people who missed the whole point of Get Out was more of a shot at white liberals then actually white people

The knee jerk reaction to Get Out has always been puzzling. But I've learned to just let that one go bruh

Who cares?
You're bitching just like other races do.

So go criticize them. We're just playing by their rules. It's not our game.

It is a racist statement, irrespective
no getting around that, just regular old racist.

He's a comedian and a shock artist garnering free publicity.
He's got a white mom and his wife is white Chelsea Peretti (she's in Brooklyn 99 by the way).
He's just being an arse because he thought it was funny.
He actually had a very obnoxious racist social commentary planned for the end of Get Out and changed it because it was too over the top.

Care to supply the full quote, so we can read it in proper context?
