It looks like the first scene with his bust is for 5 time tour champions, so he keeps playing at a high level after the events of first movie.
But now he needs to get back into playing shape. I wonder what the plot twist will be for him to have stopped playing.

I remember how much this board was pumped for Coming To America 2 and how mad people would get when I told them it was going to mega-suck.
Has there ever been an extremely belated comedy sequel that was good ever? How many have been terrible? ALL OF THEM?
Well guess what? This will be trash.
95% of its "jokes" will be references and call backs to gags in the original.
There will be 0 repeat viewings of this movie by anyone, meanwhile people re still rewatching the original 30 years later.

This movie may well suck, but I'm still going to watch it.
When I was a poor college kid, we didn't have cable TV. But what we did have was a VHS tape that had Happy Gilmore, Bio-Dome, and Under Siege 2: Dark Territory on it.
We'd get drunk and watch that VHS constantly. Must've seen Happy Gilmore a hundred times. So the movie has a special nostalgic place in my heart. Now if we can get Pauly Shore to make Bio-Dome 2.

Will watch having very low expectations
The excessive cameos give off the Entourage movie vibes (which really ruined it tbh) but could be OK if they don't try to make those PGA guys scripted and funny (they typically arent).

John Daly being in it just makes sense. He is basically the real life version of Happy Gilmore.

this glosses over the incredibly important aspect of what age you were when watching the first one. I'm guessing most people were between the age of 10-21 whenever they first watched HG (whether it was around the time it came out or not) and that dumb sophomoric humor hits right in the sweet spot as a teenager. I was 11 when the first one came out; I'm 39 for the 2nd one. I think SOME people (not necessarily you specifically cocomo) that have that mindset of "well the first one was kind of a bad movie but it was still awesome and I adored it" as a lead-in to this second one are going to be sorely disppointed when they realize that a bad stupid movie as a 40 year old kinda doesn't hit the same.

We will see how this is but I don’t have warm and fuzzy feelings about it. It’s tough to follow up a dumb fun movie with a sequel that’s good
