I kinda wish Jaime had his sword hand for that battle last night. I wish we could once see the legend that was Jaime Lannister in true combat.

I think that's coming next season. GRRM said the prequels wouldn't be about Rober's Rebellion because that story would be told already. I agree with you that I'd love to see him, Barriston, Robert, Ned and others in their prime fighting days.

I was thinking this was going to be more about the cave paintings Jon made.

I was thinking that Dany was going to accuse Jon of making them himself to try and trick her and telling him to bend the knee or be her prison on Dragonstone.

This will piss off the realism crowd but gold in this world (atleast in the show) has no weighted value given. We get small examples of people paying for things and never really any correlation to how their monetary system actually works.

Tyrion promises the gate keeper at the vale "more gold than you can spend in a life" I believe and he threw him a half sack of gold when he left and that was it. So going off of that, the wagon of gold was probably essentially billions of dollars

A single brick of gold in today's money is about half a million. A 1,000 stack by itself is larger than the entire annual revenue of the largest companies in the world. You can probably fit ten or twenty 1,000 stacks in a good-sized wagon.

I just don't see him doing that. I think it's more likely they did the wedding pact or just said "help me win the war against the NK and then we can talk about knees bending."

I don't understand why Jon simply doesn't ask for marriage in return for her overseeing the Iron Throne and him overseeing the North, Vale, and Riverlands.

So when Cersei is talking to the banker, she says that she would like to have the golden company retrieve some things that belong to her. What do yall think she was referring to?

I assumed probably Sansa and/or Tyrion.

We watched a similar scene play out between Syrio, a very small unarmored man, against a fully armored Meryn Trant and the other knights. Sryio immediately takes down the other soldiers and probably beats Trant if he's holding an actual sword. Both scenes were to show us that water dancing can be equally as effective as the Westerosi way, and likely a better choice for someone smaller and physically weaker. We also have those scenes with The Hound where he gives her tips to kill through/around armor.
In reality, smaller, quicker swords became the norm after the age of armor had ended. A small rapier wouldn't do much against a fully armored knight with a helmet. The Hound was right.

That's why the Dothraki slashing everyone's throats is unrealistic. The soldiers would have maille underneath their regular armor, protecting their necks. Horses are all well and good, but not if all they had were their slashing weapons.

Anyway, if you've ever seen an expert with a long sword, you'd know that it's not just a lot of hacking and stabbing.

Not likely. They don't need a company of soldiers from Essos to do that.

She also pointed out the difference in Bran's reunions with Arya and Sansa. His reunion with Sansa was very cold and indifferent as opposed to Arya's. Obviously he was weird TER with both but he actually hugged Arya back. It was something I hadn't considered and wonder if he's seen something about Sansa that we don't know yet.

I thought it was bc Sansa was kind of the prissy beotch
Of the kids and Arya and ter were tight, and also buddies with Jon.

I enjoyed the latest episode. A few thoughts:

1. Jaime released Tyrion when he faced certain death. Will Tyrion do the same?

2. If I'm Arya, one of my greatest assets is that no one thinks I'm capable of much. Why reveal her skill by training with Brienne in the open?

3. Why would Bran reveal to Littlefinger that he is on to him? He has no emotion at all, and is barely Bran any longer, so it cannot be motivated by revenge.

It seems the Stark family is unable to contain their righteous indignation/moral superiority. The same flaw that motivated Ned to tell Cersei what he had learned about her children.

I think you're off by at least a power of ten, maybe several, on how much you can fit in a wagon.

I'm pretty sure a stack of 1000 bricks would be several hundred feet high. Go count the number of bricks in the wall of your house, and if you like, add maybe 5 at the most, to account for the mortar. Offhand I'm going to guess that's a stack of 40 at the most, too lazy to go outside and look.
Then factor in how much more gold weighs than your standard brick.

You're not putting 10,000 bricks on anything a team of horses can pull, even if you had a modern interstate to support the weight. Over a dirt road, it would sink into the ground.

I'm sure it has been discussed, but do you guys think there is any chance Jaime and Bronn escaped?

Bronn told tyrion that The Mountain was deceptively quick. Martell was probably the best fighter in the world or close to it. Bronn was a badass. Loras was pretty good too. They wanted no part of him.

I wouldn't say Oberyn was the best fighter in the world, but he was certainly the dirtiest. Like he killed his own bannerman with a poisoned sword simply because he fricked the Lord's prostitute and was caught.

People like Bronn will be dirty on the fly, but Oberyn extensively plans his fight to be as unfair as possible and for his opponents to greatly suffer. Like if he went up against Strong Belwas and (likely) lost to him, then Oberyn would still have the last laugh as Belwas would die of agony days later.
