Did the show tell us how Cersei and Jaime knew that Tyrion would go to take the Rock? It was a great rope-a-dope, suckering the Unsullied in, letting them take it, then stranding them there. In order to pull it off they had to have known they were coming.

The Lannister's taking High Garden made sense, they needed the provisions.

Cersei had the Lannister army and Euron's fleet. Attacking the Lannister army is just an obvious target. I don't think Tyrion/Dany got outsmarted as much as they were blind. They didn't know the Iron Bank was calling in the loan which forced Cersei to go after Highgarden. If that doesn't happen the Lannister army is probably still at Casterly Rock to get taken out by the Unsullied and then it wouldn't matter as much if Euron forced them to go back to Dragonstone over land.

That is the entire reason sites like TD and Reddit exist. On our own we couldn't possibly read everything, but collectively we do.

Anyone else a little pissed that the dialog writers got Jon's line when he said Dany's father burned both his grandfather & his uncle alive? He burned his grandfather, and strangled his uncle. That kind of irritated me like not having a 3rd King's Guard at the Tower of Joy.

Except Cersei knew to send Euron to Casterly Rock to destroy the troop ships. They purposely let them take the place but left them stranded there with no provisions. They essentially took that chess piece off the board.

It wasn't luck, Cersei knew they were going to strike there.

Oh for sure they knew.
Jamie even stated he knew. But I am not giving Cersei that tactical scheme. That was all Jamie.

But his point about why they wanted to push on Highgarden is a good one. They needed that gold.

I'm really going to miss Olenna Tyrell. She went out with the most barbarous sentence she ever said. The Queen of Thorns indeed.

I think the problem with Tyrion's strategies is he is only taking Cersei into account. If this were simply Cersei we're talking about, she'd have half her army go take back the Rock. But Jaime is much more the skilled tactician and is very capable of seeing the big picture. Cersei can only see what is immediately in front of her and is entirely reactionary.

Yea well so far this season I have it like this..

1. Euron attacked the Dorne/Ironborn fleet on his own.
2. Jamie reached out to Randyll Tarly.
3. Cersei has chose to attack Highgarden because she needs the gold.
4. Jamie got Randyll Tarly to join in the attack and used Robbs tactic of clearing out the Rock.

I don't give Cersei too much credit so far outside of looking at the obvious.

I'm not sure to what end, but that would give some good reasons for all of these clusterfricks

Jaime willingly having loving sex with Cersei after she murdered 5000+ people and led to their son's suicide. Jaime should be at the point where if he's left in a room alone with her that he kills her, not having loving sex with her. She murdered thousands of people in cold blood. Book Jaime would kill her over that, not have sex with her.

I don't think what OML said is totally off base if you follow book Jaime. I sometimes have some trouble reminding myself that show Jaime has had a pretty different story arc than book Jaime.

Until I read this thread I was convinced Dany and Tyrion had a mole in their ranks. Knowing to clear out the Rock just seemed unlikely without prior knowledge. I didn't take into account the Iron Bank forcing their hand.

So the Unsullied aren't actually trapped they just have to trek across the entire continent to get back to Dragonstone. Correct? Nobody is outside the gates Euron is just blocking the sea.

Whoever said she should be riding Drogon for recon is correct. That simple move would have prevented both defeats. Like we all discussed before the season started it was going to happen because she was just too damn strong.

Curious to see what goes down in Winterfell now that Bran is back. He is all knowing and a threat to Littlefinger. Littlefinger will have to make a move soon. I'm hoping Arya makes it back in time to stop him.

This is what I was thinking. But no way show Varys would support Cersei. I've never read the books but from reading these threads it appears show and book Varys are very different. Maybe Quyburn has a little bird there.
