shite take. There is absolutely no way they could have crammed this whole story into 2 seasons. 40 episodes would have been cutting it close and you're seeing the bad effect of 34.

Meh I think they could’ve, would’ve cut out a lot of filler and made them focus on the action

GRRM dianne even know what cannon is. He totally gave up on finishing his story. The YV show has been over for years and we are still missing the last three books.
I want to never hear his name again. But I also know the day Winds of Winter drops, I'll get it.

His last in depth interview he basically revealed that he is essentially where he was at pre covid with WoW because he's actually went back and re-wrote stuff. And for the first time that I can recall in the past decade he admitted that he has put WoW on the backburner (as if it wasn't already) and finish more Dunk and Egg and Fire and Blood and hope that if he finishes those it will let him focus on WoW.

I'd have had four 10 episode seasons, with the Gullet and aftermath being the finale of S2, the God's Eye in S3 and the Hour of the Wolf/Aegon 2 Death/Aegon 3 crowning after a big Rhaenyra death climax to finish it. Alicent and Rhaenyra would be way shittier than they are, and I'd replace their endless boring scenes with more skirmishes between Cole and the Wolves, as well as fleshing out Black Aly and other minor but integral characters.

Thanks, I need to read Fire and Blood.

Is there anyone left that takes up for him?

Right before Cole was killed, she said, that's Sir Criston right? She has no idea who anyone is outside the main cast.

Yep, it's really an unremarkable cast and the writing matches the acting talent.

Tell your wife... I was pulling for the arrows.

So penultimate episode of the penultimate season. Surely this is going to be an eventful episode, right?

Not a book reader but looking forward to some excitement tonight. Just from the little I read Tumbleton is supposed to be big. Here's to hoping. TUMBLETON! TUMBLETON!

Have they released the episode 7 title yet? I can’t find it.

Do we get Gods Eye tonight or do yall think that’ll be episode 8?

Has this show been worth a shite the last 2 weeks? This season has been so meh. I didn’t know it was possible to make a Game of Thrones spinoff so boring.

I don't think the God's Eye stuff will happen this season.

I've enjoyed it, but mostly because I enjoy the world. The writing has been shite and the focus on Rhaenyra and Alicent is the result of having way too many chicks calling shots on the show. It's super obvious that they set out to highlight 'female perspectives,' which is why we get weak shite like the aforementioned dynamic as well as the weird attempt to make Lady Arryn some kind of a psycho badass. Maybe we'll actually get some dialog from Black Aly, so casual viewers can finally learn who the frick she is.

Running George off seems to have been a goal, so they could shift the focus to what they wanted it to be. Maybe they just suck in general. Either way, him not being around has cost the show dearly.

This week must be pretty intense. AI refused to spoil it for me. Well, mostly.

Following her ultimatum from Rhaenyra, Alicent Hightower arrives at the haunted fortress of Harrenhal. She must navigate the psychological grip that Alys Rivers has established over a shirtless, recovering Aemond Targaryen

Aemond seeks a future entirely distinct from the political rot of King's Landing.

Distressed by the high-profile abduction of her Hand, Corlys Velaryon, Rhaenyra’s mental state severely deteriorates.

I’ll admit, I definitely had an opposing view from you at first, but that’s changed quickly. Starting to feel your perspectives are spot on. Even Madking was right with his crazy takes. Agree with both of yall.

I started off liking it, and I still generally do.

And my comments about 'female perspectives' come straight from my viewing of the 'inside the episode' and other podcast videos on YT. I'm not just making shite up.

Who did you expect the show to focus on when it’s a conflict between Rhaenyra as Queen (Blacks) and Aegon II as King (with Alicent pulling the strings)?

With GRRM pulling inspiration from the War of the Roses IRL which was largely orchestrated by women like Margaret Beaufort (mother of Henry Tudor), it’s not terribly surprising.

I think the problem is more with how badly Rhaenyra and Alicent have been written. I haven't read Fire and Blood just spoilers. They've definitely made this more about the two of them and making up terrible conversations between them. You can have those, but still focus on the other interesting characters and their stories. It just seems like those have been put on the back burner.

And I'm so done with Mysaria. I hate her character and her stupid accent and I wish they'd just kill her already. End rant.

Everything in the books is a second hand retelling in the fashion of a Maester telling the history with multiple unreliable narrators.

You’re acting like it’s a poor adaptation of POV chapters.

Outside of the occasional overheard/retold dialogue, you couldn’t have a show without “between the lines” additions to the story.

And if GRRM wanted differently he should’ve maybe been more involved writing for the show. He’s the king of turning shite over to other writers then complaining how it’s done.
