Incredible film. It is timeless and no older film has stood the test of time like it.

Gone with the Wind is good.

All kinds of old movies have stood the test of time incredibly well, many more so than Gone with the Wind. What a strange thing to say.

People must be buying tickets because when they started showing it at theaters a few years ago, it was only showing for two nights. Last year it was three nights. This year five. Out of curiosity I keep up with the ticket sales on Fandango and they always come close to selling out as no one wants to sit on front row. ;-)

I've heard it's funny to see in theaters because the original print was from the days before widescreen cinema, so seeing it on today's screens is almost like seeing an SD show on an HD TV - a square frame with a lot of space on either side.

My grandmother (no pics) was a ticket-taker at a theater in Portland, Oregon when Gone With the Wind and The Wizard of Oz came out. It was a huge deal back then. After all of the tickets were collected, they would be able to sit and watch the movie. She said she probably saw GWTW and TWOZ a hundred times each, then never watched them again.

I finally sat down and watched it all the way through a few years ago.

It's an excellent movie, worth all the hype. Scarlett O'Hara is an absolutely atrocious woman.

—Scarlett is a survivor and does what it takes. She got her payback at the end of the movie.

Yeah and I get that. It's what makes the character so iconic. Scarlett is a proto feminist, and a manipulator to the core. Being married to her would be hell.

Scarlett is the literary definition of growing up fast.

She is 16 at the beginning of the book/movie. By the time she is 20 she's buried at least one husband, had a child (not shown in the movie) and had her entire way of life destroyed.

The story covers roughly 12 years, so by 27 she has buried 2 husbands, a daughter, and her parents. She's run a business, rebuilt a plantation, killed a man.

Hard to disagree... But time is starting to catch up. Would say anyone under 30 hasn't seen this movie at all.
