Um, yeah it is a show. They wanted her to get to mad queen status and those were the mechanisms.

She is a damn inbred Targaryen.

Like being surprised when a pitbull eats a baby.

She’s his queen. She told him what to do, he did something against her wishes. Again I ask, is that not betrayal?

For the 3rd time, no. Not getting her way is not betrayal. That's simple disobedience, but even then, he flat out told her he wasn't going to do what she asked.

It would have been betrayal had he sworn himself to secrecy. He didn't though. He told her he was telling them the truth, reassured her nothing would change and then did exactly what he said he was going to do.

I think you are splitting hairs to get to the outcome you want.

She obviously saw it as betrayal.

There is no way I would continue to watch this show if I thought it was as bad as you make it out to be.

Some critical master race.

I'm not splitting hairs at all. Feeling betrayed and actually being betrayed are very different things.

She felt betrayed by Jon. She was actually betrayed by Varys.

It is a show that employed porn actresses and was loose on plot lines the entire time. Not surprised when you have to make a jump to believe what is happening.

Great show, but I don't know why the last season or two is seen as some big break. Only complaint is how fast the plot moves now, but that is trying to appease fans who want every plot line wrapped up.

Also the lack of ravens now being used.

Or, sometimes seeing a palace crumbling around you can sober your perspective. Those of you complaining about forced conflict here are being a bit silly. Arya had a mission from the end of season one, right after the FORCED CONFLICT of executing Ned. Seeing and understanding that cersei was dead anyway can realistically cause a change of mind. They didn't know or expect Dany would destroy the whole city.

Not going to defend mad Dany. They dropped hints over two seasons, but they didn't develop it enough for this extreme turn to work well

Starks v. Lannisters was set up from episode 1 and Ned v. Cersei was involved in like 3-4 episodes

They dropped them a lot longer, but it did feel like a switch.

Although supposedly that is how the mad king went too.

This is my only real complaint about how it's unfolding. Yes, the signs were there. Yes, many of us thought this could possibly be the ultimate outcome.

She went from slightly angry/emotional queen to full blown Hitler in less than 2 full episodes though.

yeah they didn't really start her descent until episode 4, really. by the end of 5? Hitler

that's why the people pushing the "didn't end how you wanted" meme completely miss the mark. it's not about the outcome. Dany going Mad Queen is whatever, it's fine. but how we got there? totally shitty

kind of makes you realize just how terrible episodes 1 and 2 are. 1 fricking third of this season wasted on setting up the emotional impact of a pointless plot line (NK), then using 1 full episode to finish that pointless plot line, leaving two episodes to fully develop the Mad Queen

Chernobyl makes this show feel like family matters in comparison.

Last Episode was fun and watching Drogon fry everything was fun, but ends there. I also thought the episode was the best of the season so far.

I learned dragon fire can blow up concrete and stone like a bomb and can slice through columns of the Keep like a hot knife through butter. Yet somehow humans just burn; they should blow up. Dragons have unlimited fuel and never needs a water break.

I won't argue with you there. But given the other things I brought up in that post, her being there at that moment was forced in order to give us a familiar character to run around in the destruction. They literally said that's how they used Arya in the bit after the episode.

I have no problem with the Mad Dany switch. It was one of the few things done well (enough) in the episode.
