People are rewriting this character so they can complain about him acting basically like he has all series
Dude. No one thinks he is honorable. We think that his character doesn't act like a belligerent bully.
He is and has always been a POS but he is a cool, calm, collected POS who has witty undermining commentary about every situation.
He is a peasant sell sword that talked shite to tyrion from the get go cuz he knew that when push came to shove he could win any fight.
No one is mad that he maneuvered the situation to get more for himself, we are aggrevated that the writers had him do it in a manner contrary to the way the show established Bronn's personality.
Same scene could have been shot with the same outcome with Bronn being the cool, calm, collected dick that he's always been. Instead, they wrote a scene for the Hound and put Bronn in it instead.
Speaking of the Hound, he is the opposite of Bronn, he is crude and off putting but deep down he is a good person.
Bronn is a terrible person but he is charming and cunning.
They just missed on that scene dude. It would be just as big of a miss if they had a scene where the Hound is witty and likeable. that dog just won't hunt.

He was pretty calm cool and collected.
He punched Tyrion but if you can’t understand why he would be possession at Tyrion that’s on you.

I’d say they both operate by a certain code of honor that they’re true to.
Ranking people in order of honor:
Ned
Brienne
Jon
Hound
Bronn
Janos Slynt
LittleFinger

The Hound has definitely done horrible things, but it bothers him that he had to do them.
Bronn also would have killed Mycah and wouldn't have lost a bit of sleep over it.

Just getting caught up. Watched 3 episodes last night and 1 this morning.
There is only so much realism for a show about dragons and witches but I felt the past seasons did a better job of giving some plausibility of realism. Episode 3 felt like chuck norris getting 5k rounds shot at him with machine guns while he's crouching behind a mailbox.
I'm not as disappointed as some with this season but I'm kinda growing tired of the show's themes.
The 180* turn of character's motives was new and interesting at first but its getting old. Evolving is fine but flip flopping from bad to good or vise versa is getting over the top and happening too much. By the ending I half-way expect Arya to become partners with Cersi.

What’s funny is initially I tjought “I thinknits Realistic that these zombies aren’t just killing these people in armor with their zombie hands.
But then they kept coming and swarming the hero’s and some had weapons.
Someone needed to die or don’t put them under 6000 zombies

I don't get Varys' decision to turn on Dany right now.
I feel like that was just kind of an FYI conversation for Tryrion going forward. I don't think Varys believes they can win without her and Drogon. It could be more along the lines of him "judging the battle" to see exactly how she tries to attack. Also, he's aware of what happened after they attacked the supply train. He may also be forewarning Tyrion that if she starts burning people post battle he will figure out a way to have her killed. But I could be wrong.
quote:Yeah, I'm getting the sense that Varys is making his move preemptively, to save the people of King's Landing (Cersei's human shield).
I sorta got the feelin like he was going to do it because he thinks she’ll melt all of King’s Landing
Knowing the type of character Varys is, I don't think he talks about treason multiple times unless he's going to commit it. Especially their last conversation, when he shot down even the Jon-Dany marriage; at that point he's justifying things. He's probably telling Tyrion to decide if he gets a poisoned cup, too.
Varys is dead IMO, either he attempts and fails and Dany has him killed, Tyrion does it preemptively, or Jon takes him out after the fact.
Regarding advisors, I know they won't do this since he's only a prop in the show, but Dany should address Lord Royce on his opinion of the strategy. Everyone knows he's loyal to Sansa, but he's the most experienced military man (Westeros at least) in that room, and politically it would be a smart move to show the Veil that respect. Tyrion and Varys are diplomats, Jon and Sansa are young and relatively inexperienced, and Dany's losing every fight but one on this continent. Royce at least was present the last time King's Landing was taken. Given his sense of honor, he would probably give good counsel militarily, since his own homeland is on the hook too.

quote:Watching that scene again, Sam actually makes some sense. He's lying on a pile, but he's stabbing away. He's getting scratched up, but every stab is a 1 shot insta-kill, and he's saving as much energy as he can to keep going. Ironically, it's the Jon vs Viserion thing that makes me wonder: doesn't Vis roast everyone in the courtyard? Shouldn't that have taken Sam, Tormund, Jaime etc all out?

Leaked scene from this episode

This probably was discussed in the thread for last week's episode, but should Euron know that something is up with the Cersei pregnancy?
After Tyrion threw out that line about "do it for your unborn baby" I expected Cersei to start looking awkward and the camera to pan over to Euron saying "how does the midget who just came from the freezing North know about our unborn kid?" Didn't recall knowledge of the pregnancy being broadcast and thought we may get some strife from it?
