Episode 2 was trash. People kept saying “oh it’s our last moments with some of these characters” except it really wasn’t. Melisandre wasn’t in the episode at all Jorah was barely in the episode. Dolores Edd was barely in the episode of at all Theon was barely in the episode. No one in the room when Brienne was knighted died
In retrospect ep 2 seems like part one of a big bait and switch. Loved it the first time as I thought it gave great closure to several Second level character arcs. I’ve never loved the character of Brienne as I found the straight lawfully good and honorable character boring but I was legit happy for her when she achieved her dream. Then they basically just kinda drag on her story and then have her survive a wight pile up and then get pumped and dumped. Just one of many weird, chaotic choices.

This is probably the truest of them all.

I don't get Varys' decision to turn on Dany right now.
She's getting irritable and desperate, but she's still 100% a better option than Cersei as queen. Most of her irritation is that she's losing her advantage in combat by attempting to comply with Varys & Tyrion's "gentle" approach, which is basically holding back every weapon she has until Cersei can counter it.
Their advice has been the downfall thus far. You just can't take a large, fortified castle city determined to stand against you, without causing destruction. A dragon and Dothraki blitz would have been the Shock and Awe approach, causing most to give up in a hurry- look at Bronn.
Now, those options are seemingly off the table, meaning you have to starve them out with a force that might not be enough to stand on the field against them.
As for the logic of turning on/assassinating Dany in favor of Jon:
Jon has sworn allegiance to Dany, and has maintained that after learning he actually has the better claim- because he doesn't want the throne.
Jon's leadership at the Wall got him assassinated, by failing to understand those under his command. After resurrecting, he led his troops into a slaughter at the Battle of the Bastards. His mission beyond the Wall was a disaster, needing Dany to rescue them (and costing a dragon). His diplomacy with Dany caused the North to damn near revolt, his battle plan against the Night King was a mess saved by a lucky strike by his sister the assassin (of whom he didn't understand, or maybe he'd have plotted failure for her too).
I like Jon, and he'd be the better peacetime ruler maybe, but I see nothing that would make me decide to stage a coup before this battle occurs.

It definitely makes more sense to actually attempt any overthrow after the battle is over. Doing it now would be catastrophic.
Do we know he wants to do it ASAP?

I feel like that was just kind of an FYI conversation for Tryrion going forward. I don't think Varys believes they can win without her and Drogon. It could be more along the lines of him "judging the battle" to see exactly how she tries to attack. Also, he's aware of what happened after they attacked the supply train. He may also be forewarning Tyrion that if she starts burning people post battle he will figure out a way to have her killed. But I could be wrong.

I sorta got the feelin like he was going to do it because he thinks she’ll melt all of King’s Landing

Not sure there was much of a better plan per se. The NK was only going down to a lucky shot one way or another.

I can see it. I just think doing that pretty much means you're throwing in the towel and leaving Cersei to rule. At least from Varys' perspective.

Jon literally fights every battle outnumbered by a large margin and people act likenitsnhis strategy that’s the issue.
Also he seems to get all the strategy blame for winterfell when literally everyone but Cersei was there planning it.

I got pissed when Sansa mentions Jon lost the Battle of the Bastards. WTF was he supposed to do? She wanted him to go fight BEFORE they knew Rickon was being held captive. He told her they didn't have enough troops and she still didn't care

D&D need to be put to sword if they allow any of the following to sit the Iron throne at the end:
Bran
Sansa
Cersei
Bran
Sansa
Cersei

And somehow Sansa gets credit for the Knights of the Vale even though Littlefinger brought them.
She didn’t even know about them.
Otherwise maybe she says “wait a day the Knights of the Vale are coming”

Remember she got pissed when no one asked for her opinions but only to say “I don’t know” when asked? Earlier in S6 she said we have to go save rickon since he’s family. The night before the BotB, she said rickon was a goner. Make up your damn mind. Watching her the last 2 seasons made me feel sorry for Ramsay since he has to live with a nagging artist.

That's been part of my rant on her for going on 2 seasons. The only reason he even came to her aid was because she is a Stark and he was going to use that to his advantage. It had NOTHING to do with her actual skills/traits/talents.

I would've went after that a lot harder pre Ramsey then.

I agree though, the thrusting of Sansa into power/spotlight has been painful to watch. I don't know if its just because it is Sophie Turner or what, but they are just throwing "look how great she is" crap down the audience's throat, meanwhile she generally fricks things up and is a bitch to everyone.

Like she didn’t even know about them.
Yet she has CLAIMED credit for them appearing and saving the day.
