I'm just happy there was one useless scene of snow flying a dragon near waterfalls or you saps would have questioned his dragon on dragon fighting capability.
Or the 20 minutes of Arya sneaking around to confirm she is capable of eluding them.
Seriously, it's a show of magic and zombies and y'all get to bent out of shape.
This was an amazing episode.

Yeah, I don't mind that scene so much because while tactically stupid when you think about it, it did set the tone for just how overwhelmed they were.

Well, there’s the whole war for the throne thing that they kind of have to deal with

Yeah, but it feels like the main focus of the series has been building to this idea that the war for the throne is really a foolish idea since there's this whole dead army that can destroy everyone.

God forbid. Not a Trumpkin, but get in your safe space if you don’t want a different opinion.

No I meant that to be a person that watches an episode of tv like that, and your first reponse is to run to the rant to be the first to list the things you read on reddit that were wrong and how they should have been, that that sucks. To be you I mean.
I’m sorry. That was fricking awesome. And to lose the ability to just enjoy it. That just sucks. For you.

I did really enjoy that because it hyped you up at first with a Dothraki horde with flaming weapons charging into battle getting quickly darkened.

Really enjoyed it. Very fitting for the Dothraki to meet their end horde vs horde.

The part that was most visceral to me was when the dead charged and it was like a wave of bodies that hit the front ranks of the unsullied and pretty much completely smothered them and the camera shot. At that point I was thinking “ok this is not going to go well in the slightest”. Made me think of Jon being trampled in the battle of the bastards but multiplied by 10

Even if I wasn't the biggest fan, I can't take anything away from the opening of the episode. The tension building is phenomenal. The music is perfect. Ramin GOAT. When the Dothraki charged and the flames went out, I had chills.

They talked about it post-credits too. Swords catch on fire, everyone is hyped, you think they've got a chance, and 60 seconds later they're all dead. Reality sets in pretty quickly.

still is. the group who was willing to put aside their political bullshite for one second to deal with the common threat to human existence is about to be rewarded. the group who was plotting and shite until they very end will be punished

It was telegraphed so it had no impact to me (other than some tactical lulz)

Bran with his all-seeing shenanigans couldn’t have told them to dig a wider fire moat?

99.9% of the castle dies but magically almost all the major characters live? They really should have had 2-3 more major characters go throughout the episode

That pissed me off more then anything. Typical plot armor. Everytime they showed them they were all being completely overwhelmed, yet they managed to hold out for several minutes
This is a legit gripe, to be sure, but let's take a second and look at the combat-
Dany (DANY!) kills several wights, I think 4 or 5 while with Jorah. They aren't skilled and trained fighters, they rush at you and try to get you.
Sam survives (which is a stretch), but otherwise those that survive are ... skilled fighters. Not Northern "soldiers" that were farmers last week, but people who fought for a living. Jamie, Tormund, Brienne, even Pod. Those fighters that died were focused on something other than bitter survival- Jorah was keeping the masses from attacking Dany, Edd stopped to pull Sam up. Beric saved Arya. Unsullied stayed back to hold the line. Dothraki did a cannonball into the deep end, and found out it was REALLY deep. Theon did the Jamie move and spear-rushed the leader, but no Bronn to save him.

Those who survived for the most part knew how to fight and ended 1-on-1's quick, and got to high ground or got a wall behind their backs. They would have eventually tired and fell.

, it wasn't for you, it was for the mood of the troops.

It was 10 minutes into the episode, of course we knew it would go poorly. The idea was the people fighting don't know how long they've got, but they've got swords on fire, so they think they've got a chance.

I don’t think they killed enough people to just talks the fan service in episode 2.

No one from the knighting scene dies.

That’s pretty wild.

Basically only 4 characters who’s story was just absolutely at the end of the line.

The WW storyline consisted of nothing more than 1-2 teaser moments per year or the first 4 seasons. The first episode in which that storyline is a headliner comes near the end of season 5. Before Hardhome, the WWs are a menacing side plot at best.

In the first 7 seasons, the white walkers and the wights have a grand total of 48 minutes of screen time. 48 minutes in 7 fricking seasons, more than half that being the battle at Hardhome and the episode Hodor dies.

For reference, two characters who died tonight have INDIVIDUALLY had more screen time than the entire WW plot line has been given.
