I have a question, but everyone is too busy bitching. Did jon get burned by Dragon fire? It looked like it.

John's entire arc was based around them. Bran too.
Even John’s arc doesn’t become primarily about the WW until season 5.

Other than being the rightful heir to the iron Throne, the true main plot of the series.

Yeah I could have sworn Brienne was about to die a couple of times and then she was fine. I didn’t like it.
My wife and I literally said multiple times during the show: oh shite there goes Pod, oh frick this is where Brienne goes

John was literally killed, in the biggest moment of the show, because he wanted to save the wildlings from the WW

We're pointing out the absurdity of people claiming the WW were the main plot all series.
The threat of the WW invasion was way more interesting and effective than the actual implementation of it IMO.

As I said in one of the other threads, I loved this episode. Very well done and tense. The direction was magnificent.
Having said that that I think it would have been truer to the spirit if the books if Jaimie had lost his whole arm, Dany, Sansa, Sam, Davis, , Lyanna Mormont (hated to see her go), Brienne, or Gilly should have been badly wounded, like losing an arm, eye, legs, hand...you get the gist...among them.
Dany getting a bad facial scar or losing her right hand would have been great foreshadowing of a possible slow fall into insanity like her father.
More non-reversible results of battle on the main characters...even PTSD, which may still happen, who knows...would add a more gritty look and feel for the survivors.
But I loved this episode. I have no expectations other than to be entertained moved. This delivered, to me, IMHO, but I am worried about how this could be topped.

No

Yep and Jon was practically neutered throughout the whole episode.
Dany being a terrible individual fighter should be no real surprise. She was actually worse than expected tonight, and Jon was hamstrung as a result.

Count screen time to me all that you want, but the series has clearly been building towards that.
The series has been building towards the question “Who will sit on the iron throne when it’s all over”.

Also, would you like to count Thanos screentime in ALL of the MCU films and still make the same argument?
They successfully built up Thanos. The Night King was taken out on a fan service whim and didn’t do shite in the long run.

Are we going to act like there was another storyline in the MCU that even sniffed Iron Throne v WW? What a poor analogy.

Wait To defend that episode people are now downplaying the WW?
This appears to be the case right now. Woah.gif is the correct response.

Her Jaime and Pod got tackled by the dead like right when they attacked. I thought we were about to be in for a wild ride after that.

The WW storyline consisted of nothing more than 1-2 teaser moments per year or the first 4 seasons. The first episode in which that storyline is a headliner comes near the end of season 5. Before Hardhome, the WWs are a menacing side plot at best. In the first 7 seasons, the white walkers and the wights have a grand total of 48 minutes of screen time. 48 minutes in 7 fricking seasons, more than half that being the battle at Hardhome and the episode Hodor dies. For reference, two characters who died tonight have INDIVIDUALLY had more screen time than the entire WW plot line has been given.
Pretty much why i feel kinda bummed by the ep. despite (your context) how little time they got they were still hyped to be the main threat to humanity, How many seasons were spent on Jon Snow and Sam etc try rallying people to fight the NK. Convincing people that humans were not the enemy as long as the NK persisted. Hell Danny temporarily abandoned her lifelong quest for the throne to stop the NK.
But nah NK was never a big deal lmao you were foolish because Cersei got her drunk husband drunk and he accidentally died so truly she was the primary threat to the realms of men. what dipshit could possibly consider the one who could bring a night that lasts forever and literally sought to end humanity as the primary threat to humanity???

The defining moment of the series will always be the Red Wedding and it really isn’t close. It might very well be the most infamous scene in television history.

I had to jack up the brightness on my TV just to manage to attempt to see what the everliving frick was happening. Once I did that I thought it was great... until the last few minutes. Every single major character was getting their arse handed to them then just miraculously survived off-camera. Brienne and Jaime were fricking toast. Sam was literally dying then all of a sudden laughing.
And then the Night King gets killed from behind by a leaping Arya while surrounded by all of his White Walkers and hundreds of other Wights? How did she even get there from inside the castle? How did she sneak through ALL of the White Walkers? No one saw her as she was sprinting and leaping through the air?
I was so on the edge of my seat and giddy with excitement as the NK was walking up to Bran only to have such a disappointment in the last few seconds. I was looking forward to some sort of exchange between them, literally anything. Then it’s all just over. In a couple of seconds.
The set up was great, the last minutes were just a total letdown.
