Blackwater GOAT status confirmed tonight

Well that was one of the best episodes of Game of Thrones that I've ever barely seen. Hell I know having a 55 day shoot only makes sense if you do it at night because of daytime weather continuity issues but I won't lie and say the darkness didn't take away some of the drama.
Plot wise it was a very satisfactory episode, Arya killing the NK was great, there were times I really thought everyone was going to die. They did a great job suspense wise.
I feel like Jon gave up too quickly in Winterfell too, I mean stand behind the wall longer, maybe something will happen. Felt like he just said hell with it, stood up and yelled at the dragon just in case that worked.
Dany is worthless. Riding dragons into one another. This was a good PSA for not driving with limited visibility.
All in all the build up for this episode was way too big, it was always going to fall short of expectations. The episodes that everyone thinks will be the greatest always fall just a little short. It was a top 10 episode no doubt

The other 3 other "battle" episodes of GoT were superior to tonight's episode.
I didn't hate tonight's, but so much of it felt forced and artificial.

How much of this episode or any of the episodes did GRRM write? Sorry if I’m not considering subjective quotes about what might happen from a person who hasn’t written things that we are discussing currently.
Sorry I digress from the point. I am arguing against the opinion that the living were the true threat to man etc. .
The NK was definitely built up to be the supreme big bad, which is what your quote deals with and I agree. To me the quote suggests the main threat is over and our heroes just need to reclaim their rightful throne.
People are arguing the NK was an ancillary threat. Cersei was the true threat from the start. This is foolishness. Especially if you consider the quote you reference.

Yeah. Cersei and the Iron Throne aren't the main storyline.
Jon and co. have been disagreeing with that for most of the series.
Jon and Co. understood the NK needed to be addressed first, but it doesn't change the Iron Throne being the main focus all series.

Jon, covered in blood and standing around all of the survivors after the battle: “Guys, I’m not gonna lie...I’m pretty sure that was me that killed everything. I just yelled at the undead dragon like some wizard. No big deal. You can thank me later.”

Specific complaints
1. Dany and Jon utilized their dragons in such a bizarre, if not downright useless fashion.
2. Didn't like the tonal shift from mass pandemonium outside the castle to slow paced tension Resident Evil inside the castle.
3. 99.9% of the castle dies but magically almost all the major characters live? They really should have had 2-3 more major characters go throughout the episode.
4. Arya killing the Night King is fine, but "omg I jumped out and stabbed you" is such a let down in how it happened.

He chased after Dany because she ran from the fight.
Dany really really was terrible in this episode. She ran, made bad decisions, kept putting herself and others in danger, was a huge liability

uhhh the whole "winter is coming" is/was very clearly a metaphor for how we are our own worst enemies and how we create our own problems and are too stupid and proud to realize it and instead squabble among ourselves instead of working together for the common good
the whole point of the show is we are our own worst enemy, and the only way to win the game is to not play. its not even very subtle. jon literally spent the entire last season repeating it over and over and over
..because the army of the dead was upon them and their silly ideas of what was important was irrelevant if the NK wins... their silly mortal quarrels were irrelevant if they didn’t stop him was the entire point.

See my previous post. That’s bc Dany bailed on the fight and left her post (writers confirmed this) and Jon went after her.

Yep, Ghost is alive. Looks like they are still burning bodies. Seems pointless now.
