Watch Arya get kicked in the chest and Brienne let’s her back up.
All the Mountain needs to to grab 1 limb and he’s rag doll smashing her on the pavement.

I have a feeling that is how it will go down. Have everyone that can retreat as they are getting overwhelmed. Lure all the dead into Winterfell and trap them in there as the dragons burn it down.
I've been thinking this for awhile, but I don't know if they'll go that route. The episode preview does show Theon about to launch a flaming arrow with more flames in the background.

It's gotta get wrecked. No way NK is defeated in 3rd episode of the season.
They either fight to a stalemate or attempt a retreat

Yeah if all our hero’s get wrekt in episode 3 what’s the rest of the show gone be?
How do they retreat from an army that never rests?

Well so far we have seen that the army moves slowly, can't see in fog (how Bran escaped), we've also seen evacuation by dragon, and by sea (not applicable)
I'm sure winterfell has hidden tunnels too.

So
Why not just move bran to essos or iron islands.
The wights can't come and you just need to deal with Ole nighty and a dragon

I got shite on for this in the last few threads, but I think NK and co will be wrapped up by Ep 4 at the latest. We will go back to KL to "reset the chess board," and that theory lies in an old quote from Martin about LOTR:
quote:
And the scouring of the Shire—brilliant piece of work, which I didn’t understand when I was 13 years old: “Why is this here? The story’s over?” But every time I read it I understand the brilliance of that segment more and more. All I can say is that’s the kind of tone I will be aiming for. Whether I achieve it or not, that will be up to people like you and my readers to judge.
Our tired and nearly-defeated heroes will defeat the big bad guy, but they'll still have one last job to do: take down Cersei and set the stage for the future.

Wow I had Never seen that quote but it makes so much sense, and honestly I was thinking about that part of the LOTR a lot when thinking about how this would end.

I agree they have to spend a significant amount of time covering this.
Viewers have devoted 8 years to this show and readers/viewers even longer. People have spent time looking into the history of this world in a much deeper fashion than even Martin could have expected. Without some very significant groundwork being laid for the future of this world, people are going to be very disappointed with the ending.

I'm not sure if you were in the megathread we had for years, but we discussed it in there at some point a few years ago. I really hope it ends that way.
The series' bread and butter has always been the human conflicts and drama and manipulations, not the supernatural stuff. Give traditional fantasy fans their fix with the army of the dead stuff, then take it back "home" for the finale.

Yep, it will take a big effort.
I'm 99% confident they do away with the Iron Throne and decentralize the method of rule. We will end up with something more akin to a republic for each of the 7K, allowing the people to elect a "King of the North" for their individual regions.
This is Littlefinger's ultimate goal in the book, seeing as how the monarchic/feudal system deprived him of everything he wanted early in life. Sad he wont be in the show to see it through (well I guess not...the show ruined him when they turned him into a mustache-twirling villain that wanted the throne for himself

One of the visions Bran saw was a shadow of a dragon flying over King’s Landing. Maybe that dragon was actually the NK and his dragon. They only showed us the WW generals but not the NK at the end of last week’s episode. Maybe he took half his army to KL and kills them and adds them to his army. Meanwhile the Winterfell human force survives but is devastated.
Plus Mel is probably coming back at some point. She’ll play a role in defeating the NK.

Honestly I’d love that.
Edit: I do hope the Night King wins in episode 3. I think episode 5 could be where he’s defeated and episode 6 could be taking care of Cersei.

Winterfell = The Alamo but Jon Snow survives/is brought back to life again
Everyone from Kings Landing will defect to fight for Jon Snow. Cersei left with nothing but an empty Kings Landing?

That’s why I think We see a Hitler Bunker situation.
The pressure of something like that on Cersei would be very interesting to watchZ

yeah, she'll probably plan to torch the whole city with Aerys' wildfire stashes. Jaime will profane his blade again to save the city

Was the night king around/defeated the last time the long night was ended Before the wall was put up? Or was he just driven back and went into hiding for 1000s of years?

I think We both see this going down the same way.
This complete’s Jamie’s Story Arc.
Basically he has always had to choose between honor/doing the right thing and Cersei.
And the only time that ends is when one of them is gone.
The parallels are too good for this not to happen.between Cersei and the Mad King.
For Jamie story to come full circle so perfectly.
The whole “little brother” thing

Who kills the Night’s King?
Jamie: He is known as the King Slayer
Jon: They have starred at each other a few times
Drogon: Dragon’s fire might work. If fighting Jon when it happens might verify Jon lineage to Dany.
Who dies next week?
Brianne of Tarth: They wrapped up her story pretty well in episode 2.
Samwell Tarly: They touted his accomplishments and he delivered the news to Jon. His story is complete.
Tourmod: There isn’t much left for his character, and I don’t see him going to King’s Landing.
Beric: His story arc is more tied to the Night King, King’s Landing isn’t his fight.
Anyone else a likely casualty?
