Sansa saw more than anyone else how low then sank and how far he came back. For him to get to volunteering to defend took a lot. She knew that. She saw how Ramsey took his soul away.

You should have critiqued your podcast this thoroughly
The scene with Davos, Gilly and the little girl was good. Not sure what there was to laugh at

you obviously weren't around for the Americans
That isn’t even remotely the same. That’s way more niche. I’m willing to bet if it had gotten big, you would have been waxing poetic about how bad season 5 was.

That is the one thing I didn't understand about the last two episodes...why she needed that weapon made when she already had the VS dagger.
Daggers are tiny and spears are big? Which would you rather have in a fight? Plus she spent her time in Braavos fighting the Waif with a spear sized stick so she's better with it.

The Davos/girl scene might have been the most cringe worthy scene of the entire show. It reminded me of the shitty ending from Kingdom of Heaven where Balian starts knighting everyone at the end. And I love that movie but that was so cheesy.

I saw plenty of book readers (r/asoiaf sub which are almost all book readers) that were praising yesterday’s episode. Just saying
Same with Watchers on the Wall. Lots and lots of people saying they really enjoyed it.
In many ways, TD is it's own subculture. Nothing wrong with that, but it does not really reflect the greater fandom or even the greater casual viewership.
Plus, there are some posters who are just dyed in the wool contrarians. Again, nothing really wrong with that. It can make for some interesting conversations from time to time.

That Davos and Gilly scene. Woof
i cannot describe how much i wanted to laugh at that bullshite last night
I cant get how somebody could make a big deal or hate on an entire episode based off a scene that took 30 seconds.
Not every joke in The Office makes me laugh. Some of the scenes are ridiculous. But the show as a whole makes up for it. Its like thats not possible with GOT for some of you idiots. Who gives a shite if theres a 30 second scene in an hour long show that you didnt like. Its not a big enough scene to even care about.

After they got all that dragonglass last season, you didn't think smithing it into usable weapons would be relevant?
as relevant as the smithing for the war of the 5 kings, which wasn't really shown at all
quote:
You seem hellbent on pointing out what is "necessary" versus not. And that is a slippery slope, because like it or not, none of this is necessary
this is primarily within the context of fan service
no. no literature or film is necessary, but that's a larger scope than the question
quote:
You would've been bitching about them rushing that and saying shite like "So Arya and Jon haven't seen each other in almost a decade, and they don't even show them hugging it out and talking???"
not true. i don't care nearly as much about what isn't shown as much as what is shown
quote:
shite, I would contend that most of Dany's storylines across the Narrow Sea were almost literally pointless and she could've been in the exact same spot she is now with half the screen time.
yes. Dany's story is bad and has always been a major weak point of the show (and books)
she's been a punching bag ever since they left Qarth

I mean, it was almost "campy" to see Sam give his family sword to Jorah. But in the context of the show, it made 100% sense.
it REALLY didn't
but i'm not trying to nit pick at random stupid stuff
except Gilly. that shite was stupid

Who has a stronger claim, a Targaryen or a Baratheon? Doesn't the Baratheon line still technically wear the crown?
The Baratheon family holds the crown
They usurped the Targs and became the legitimate royal family when all of the 7 kingdoms bent the knee for Robert.

I didn't understand the Dany/Sansa scene. Jon has already bent the knee. It is a done deal.
First of all, Jon's power was instantly diminished the moment he bent the knee. He is no longer the King in the North. He's not the Lord of Winterfell. He's basically nothing.
Second, Dany loves(d) Jon. She knows that she needs other Starks with her if she wants that relationship to progress, particularly the Lady of Winterfell. Sansa with that title has more claim to the loyalty of the North than Jon does now.

ETA: I also wondered if, as a Faceless Man, she could use the face(s) of any of the dead to get close to the NK. No idea how that works, or if it could though.
how the show set it up (using the faces of they had stored up), i don't think so but that's an interesting question

It was an objectively awful scene in an otherwise good episode.

He's Warden of the North. Dany said so in the first minute of this episode.

how many guys have you ever heard of starting up a sport in their 20s and becoming a pro?
I said proficient. I know several people that started golf in their late teens early 20’s that consistently shoot in the 70’s. My best friend picked up a guitar at age 19 and is an exceptional player. All these people were proficient at these tasks after roughly 2 years of starting them. Like I said a false equivalency. I said proficient and you come in with being a professional athlete.

i almost brought up KOH earlier in this thread (B/c i got the director's cut on blu ray last week). i usually quit after the first "battle" (when Saladin marches and they come to terms right before battle) b/c the end is cringe
kind of like GOT i really wish they didn't feel like they HAD to have some big battle at the end

You missed my point. That is a title given by Dany.
She needs the loyalty of the North. The North gave Jon the title of King in the North and he very quickly discarded it and bent the knee.
Dany needs Sansa at this point as much as she needs Jon, if not more, to secure Northern support.

not really. they've had a war across the entire continent. how often did you think about the blacksmiths making those weapons?
I don't think I even thought of that one time, but once it was established that dragon glass was one of only a few things that could kill white walkers it became important. You know it is too
Posted on 4/22/19 at 1:27 pm to SlowFlowPro
While I get that it was corny, people seem to be missing that it's some major foreshadowing to shite hitting the fan down in the crypts.

half an episode delving into the details of this is the interesting stuff that we lose out on

Sam has Valeryian steel sword, which can kill WW’s

Jorah is a good fighter
Please expound on how it doesn’t make sense
