Isn't Cersei basically banking on the humans winning the battle at Winterfell?
I don't believe she has truly thought it through at all. Living or dead enemies, pretty sure she just wanted to buy time. I think she's crazy as hell and will do whatever to keep herself in power regardless of the long term consequences. She was prepared to poison Tommen during the Battle of Blackwater so I don't see why she won't nuke King's Landing if she feels all is lost.

I haven't kept up with all the episode threads, but was there a big "WTF" reaction to how the NK and WWs were able to find several massive chains north of the wall and somehow swam down to the bottom of a frozen lake and hook up a dragon to pull it out of the water?

was smithing ever a topic you thought about during the height of this show? again, was it necessary? no.
It kind of became important once it was established how to kill the white walkers, did it not?

If Jon does Dany would go back to being the next in line unless Jon has a child
Which he doesn’t unless Dany is pregnant, and again, that kid is next in line regardless

When something I once enjoyed reaches a point where it is no longer enjoyable to me, then I no longer devote time to it. It says something about you that you continue to devote so much time to something you don't enjoy, and try to force your opinions on everyone else.
The shows runners deserve to be called out for what they’re producing.
Criticism is also a fun exercise. It forces you to understand why you don’t like something.

Enjoyed the episode overall. The Arya/Gendry scene was weird only because we’ve known her since she was a little girl but in the context of what’s to come it made sense. Dany is definitely laying the groundwork to go mad queen and get killed because her recent actions are definitely pitting her against the audience.
Side note: the song at the end was a new Florence and the Machine song and this was the first time it had been played so it dropped on the show.
Side note 2: SFP does this shite in all popular show threads ( biggest example is True Detective S 1). He jumps in with a bunch of false equivalences to muddy the water and try to prove his point. Classic lawyer tactic. Claiming a 20 year old can’t practice something (Pod and sword play) and become proficient at it is just stupid and makes zero sense and he knows that, just muddying the water.

Criticism is fine but if ALL you do is trash then why watch?
SFP is doing his regular shitick anyways.

Arya sex scene was weird because we knew her from such a young age.
And then I rewound and paused it a few times to see if I could see nipple.
I think something is wrong with me.

They stated after the episode the first verse comes from the books. They added lyrics and music to it. It was performed by Florence but it isn’t her song.

It felt like I was watching a show on ABC or NBC or even the shitty CW at some points last night. The tone and dialogue have been so poor this season. It’s still an entertaining show, but the quality...

They did a pretty good job of showing that it was a dual-bladed staff of some sort. Based on the sketch she gave him, I think it's supposed to be something like this:
The way she wielded it reminded me of her time training with the waif and Mr. Faceless.

Yes, it is ok to have negative opinions. I've had several issues with the show and have voiced them in previous threads. My issue is with people who have no interest in discussing what is actually happening in the show and simply want to tell everyone how much they don't like it now and how good it used to be.
there are 3 issues
1. there is the book universe. while i have read 2.5 books i'm not a "book reader", but i know a lot about what's going on in the books. due to this, there will always be comparisons (as there have been since episode 1 of season 1)
2. there is a set ending in sight. it's not a big deal to invest in 12 episodes of mediocre to bad TV to finish out a decade-long journey. this isn't like quitting TWD in season 3 or 4, having no idea how long they'll keep it going.
3. you have to watch the bad to appreciate the good. disappointing/mediocre endings are much more important than just outright bad stuff, because it shows you what deficiencies are in the output. when you come across a show that absolutely nails it, you appreciate that more b/c you have the comparison to the failure.

not really. they've had a war across the entire continent. how often did you think about the blacksmiths making those weapons?

Once upon a time.
There’s a reason Martin has distanced himself from it.

I saw plenty of book readers (r/asoiaf sub which are almost all book readers) that were praising yesterday’s episode. Just saying

I havent been in this thread like I was for episode one, im sure its more of the same. More people complaining and bitching bc its not going the way they want it to than there is people who liked it.
I thought it was a really good episode. I dont try to compare this season with the 1st 4, I dont expect it to be nearly as good. But its still one of the best shows of all time even with a drop in quality.
The Tormund drinking scene was probably the funniest scene of the entire series. I was cracking up laughing. Everybody faces just watching him was hilarious. Everybody was basically thinking "wtf is wrong with this dude."

That Davos and Gilly scene. Woof
I'd rather watch a scene of Jon acknowledging Ghost than that shite
