Episode 3 supposedly contain a fight that makes the Battle of Pelennor Fields from RotK look like a kid playing with his GI Joes.

I enjoyed both of these storylines, especially Sam at the Citadel.

Each episode will most likely have a 2-3 min recap at the beginning with an early end time for another 2-3 min credit scene at the end

The intro and credits will undoubtedly be part of the run time. I don't believe the recap will be.

God damn bastards. Every year it’s the same thing: “oh this year every episode is gonna be nearly the length of a feature film, that’s why the season is shorter.” And every god damned year, the run times are basically the same as always.

they have said for a year that each episode will be 75+ minutes.

WTF is this BS. Editors go to town or what?

We need a DVD extended edition

didn't they say the reason they needed 2 years was to film all the scenes in the winter? seems like a weak excuse

Honestly, after waiting two years, I wanted 90 minute episodes

How much time do you think was wasted on Dorne and Arya's training?

We may just about right with the filler storylines removed.

On the heels of HBO’s recent confirmation that Game of Thrones won’t return for its final season until 2019, the network’s top programming boss is explaining the reason for the extra-long wait. Casey Bloys told EW that — as fans have suspected — showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss wanted the extra time to craft the strongest final six episodes possible.

“Here’s what I’ll tell you: They take the time they need to do the show at its highest level of quality. As the show has gone on, it’s gotten bigger — big battle scenes, big special effects,” Bloys said. “These things take time. Here’s the one thing I can assure you: Dan and Dave were not sitting around on a beach waiting to go back to work. They’re perfectionists and this is the soonest it can come back at a level of quality that they are comfortable with.”

and then they release episode run times that are par for the course
