If you had to recast it, I think some of the ones someone mentioned already would work, especially someone like Rockwell. Pratt would've been good too
who's the smart aleck guy from twisters and Top gun II? i think he would be a good fit too.

Glen Powell.

I like him okay, but he's a little too cheesy for it I think (like Damon was a little).

true story; i showed my son all the trailers for rocky 1 - V after he was asking me about rocky and adrian. i have failed as a father that we haven't watched those movies together. i got more excited playing the trailers than he did.

also one really cool moment was we just watched Close Encounters together a month or so ago (i'm sure ya'll remember my thread on it) and when he did the tones in Hail Mary, my kid's eyes got really WIDE and he was like DAD! DAD!!! DAD!! DID YOU HEAR THAT!?!? IS THIS FROM THAT OTHER MOVIE!?!?!?!

ETA and i'm sure i'm not the only person to make this connection, but the catholic in me was like "OH I GET IT!! HAIL MARY FULL OF...GRACE!"

apologies if that connection was made months ago by everyone else who watched it

Another one that I saw on IMDB that I wish they'd left in was that Grace referred to his bio dome home as Graceland but refused to tell Rocky why it was so funny

What do you think?

For actors of 2015, Pratt is getting my vote if I'm forced to recast. Whereas Damon had to force some of the humor, I thin Pratt would've had to force some of the "super smart mechanical engineer botanist" characteristics.

i recommended the 'red mars' trilogy which you may be referring to

That was the trilogy I was talking about. It was so fricking good. Weir does pretty good hard sci-fi, even if it's mostly competency porn, but KSR takes it to a whole other level. I felt like I had lived all 200 years on Mars by the time I finished the trilogy.

I agree with this. I think Pratt would struggle selling the science stuff which I think Damon did a good job of. If I’m forced to recast it’s going to be Rockwell. I think he would have killed it. But I think Damon did fine.

Well here is one vote for did not catch that even though I should have because Grace is such an odd name for a dude. Never met a male Grace in my life.

My son has seen Rocky, but just the first one. And it was several years ago, so he doesn't even remember it.

He did ask me to watch it the other day though. I just think he'd be sort of bored by it outside of the training montage and actual fights.

One of my biggest dad wins though was one weekend on back to back days he asked me if we could watch Hoosiers and Field of Dreams. I was like hell yes we can, buddy.

THERE IS NOTHING BORING ABOUT APOLLO CREED TRAINING ROCKY, CLUBBER LANG AND IVAN DRAGO

rocky only got better when it moved into the 80s.

Is there a a movie I will want to see in theaters? Or just waiting to hear back a few months for streaming?

They are showing Top Gun and Top Gun Maverick in the IMAX here and I kinda wanna go; especially for Top Gun Maverick

This movie just didn’t work for me, and I really wanted to like it. It was still fine, and I didn’t dislike it, but it just didn’t click.

You definitely want to see it in a theater, preferably IMAX. But you missed the boat on that. It's already streaming.

Thinking of going with my 10 year old. He likes space stuff and sciency things.

Would he be too young for this?

I went to see it with my 16 yr old (his second viewing) before it left the theatre.

The whole time I was sitting there I was thinking “Wow…this is really good”. It made me happy to see that Hollywood can still produce a gem every now and then.

It wasn’t until afterwards that I made the connection of the line “you just need somebody to be brave for” and how that arc progressed.

I can’t say enough good things about that film.

absolutely not! I don't think I even heard a four letter word but maybe I'm wrong.

Your kid will love it
