My great-grandmother was in Steel Magnolia since she, and the rest of my family, are from Natchitoches.

My family name is an old Natchitoches/Red River Parish name, but my great-great grandfather moved to Alexandria in the 19th century.

Anyway, my Steel Magnolia story - I was working as a stocker/bagger at a mafia-front business in Alexandria (no, I was not connected, but my employers most definitely were) when a guy came in and was very excited to tell us - "I just drove Darryl Hannah around." He was working for the production company and told us about a movie they were making in Natchitoches.

I know, :csb:

(100% true.)

Everybody's All-American

ETA: I read the title as film set (scenery, props, etc.), instead of a film set in the state. Hence the photos of them filming on LSU's campus, and in BR.

I've seen better films being made in the quad.

Obviously not set in La., but Dallas Buyers Club was mostly filmed everywhere in Gretna, Marrero, New Orleans and Kenner.

Crazy seeing that trashy motel the characters worked out of, was the same roach motel I took some last call hookups to when I was in my 20's.

I saw the movie at the old Esplanade theater in Kenner.

There's a scene where they are having a car chase in a mall parking lot and I'm like "That shite was filmed right here outside the theater!"

I was surprised it took so long for this one to be mentioned. It was the second movie I thought of after the motion picture classic, Southern Comfort.
