Using "they" makes the article confusing when it is only "one." Is "it" not permissible?

i really thought he was just ungrateful and terrible in the role back in 2020, but after learning about Whedon's behavior and seeing the Snyder Cut, i view him much more favorably. It appears he was right.

He's not a great actor but he does a great job of making a fool of himself in public. Cut ties with him and recast the role. I'm fairly certain if you announce you are casting actors to play the Flash for a million dollars you'll get some interested folks.
