I really have no idea what Disney's gameplan is with these remakes.

I think the idea is to ride the nostalgia bandwagon for money… except they are also going out of their way to intentionally frick with the formulas that made the originals work.

This is pretty much normal Hollywood stupidity writ large, where they have a story they want to tell and slap an existing brand on it regardless of how it fits the material.

It is like the idea of Alan Moore rebooting Radioactive Man so he is no longer radioactive by instead a heroin addicted jazz critic. Character name is there but no longer resembles the original.

Disney will put together a slick marketing package, tie in a bunch of promotional stuff, and then generate a bunch of buzz off the controversy. They’ll make some money off that… but ultimately it will fall flat. And then they won’t be able to make much money off of it overseas either.

God damn why Wonder Woman?

Disney is beyond mother fricking stupid. You think after the first few times they would listen, but they never do. Their loss.

Go woke, go broke. Well done Disney.

Just once I want someone to ask some of these people if they think dwarves in fantasy books/stories are just humans with a medical or genetic condition?

They’re not.

The stories are shite and all it does is confuse kids when they go to the parks because the Ariel or Snow White they see at the park is not the one they just saw in the remake.
Between box office receipts and all the Disney princess merchandise already on the market, they could print money by staying true to the originals with the story and casting.

The real title should be “Snow White, One Dwarf, and Six Other People.” When I heard that Disney was going to title the film just “Snow White”, I had a feeling they were up to something, although I wasn’t sure, since the original Brothers Grimm fairy tale didn’t mention the dwarfs in the title.

I’ve seen the photos and they look really bad. The “magical creatures” look like homeless people and Snow White’s costume looks incredibly cheap.

Right.

They’re banking on people going to see it to see just how badly it is and how badly it trampled on the original movie

If it was original with a different name , nobody would care to see some non binary princess and blah blah blah

But they’ll get people who want to see what they massacre Snow White with to make it super woke

She is very, very hard to like based on that segment

If I was a Disney exec, I would be very annoyed right now.

This is the most infuriating part of these movies. They don’t have the guts to make original content with this “new” messaging so they just make a crap movie and call it whatever Disney classic they like. I hope Disney changes, but just about everything’s a no from me.

There are rumors that this entire project may be killed by Disney after the strike.

They will be able to use certain clauses to cut all of these projects and actors, writers, etc loose with no ramifications due to the strike. It's the only way Iger can save the company,.... But he ultimately won't do it unless the board makes him.

Kind of a bold statement.

What if you can enjoy it ironically?

I hope so, but I doubt it. I think leadership knows there’s a big problem, but are afraid to stand up to the woke bullies. Disney needs a leader that actually cares about children. None of these people seem to know what kids enjoy.

Disney damn sure subverted expectations when it came to “the fairest of them all”.

This whole commercial industry push to tell the public what's beautiful when the public instinctively knows otherwise is modern farce and unintentional satire at its finest. No, we don't want our Victoria Secret models to be 200lbs...you can't re-engineer inherent, instinctive and natural human tastes.

Sorry Fabienne, ppl don't want a woman with a giant pot-belly.
