It would have benefited from some humor. The MCU movies are always good for some chuckles. The ones that try to be too serious are the worst ones.

Daughter and I watched it last night. Lower tier MCU. Full of plot holes, horrible acting, long and slow. Way too much going on. I'd say more, but spoilers. Only good was the visuals.

One question: Was the deaf speedster using modern day sign language at the various ancient locations (Mesopotamia, Babylon, etc.)?

Watched it. It was somewhat a mess and some of the CGI was wonky. But it was overall entertaining.

I think Jeremy Jahns has the best review of it, noting it could have been so much more.

I just watched it and it was okay. Visually it was very nice but the setup to the endgame of the movie was so messy and all over the place. I think future stories have a lot of potential. Overall I enjoyed the watch and look forward to sequels.

Also Gemma Chan is a fricking dream.

I watched it last night and enjoyed it as a change of pace from the normal Marvel fare. A bit more cosmic and action with less humor.

I'm absolutely NOT a fan of Arishem's look. I would rather they went with the traditional Kirby robot outfit look (like they did with GoTG). I'm still on the fence with how they changed the story up. I'm a bit of an originalist but I have to admit that I like the moral dilemma they set up better than having them just be super-humans created by Celestial testings on early humans.

All Angelina did was cry, act crazy and then cry more. With a bit of pose-y fighting.

(Thanks to Yelena’s comment in Black Widow, I’m super aware of all the posing while fighting now)

While it was a solid way to pass time, there were lots of things that could have been done better.

Sersi- turned a deviant into a tree... that wasn't killing it. A tree is still alive, it's a plant. You have a loophole. I remember thinking that when they were talking about her 'killing' the deviant.
We go from that, to turning Tiamet (Celestial) into... ice? No loophole. No payoff on that.

Who in the name of God thought the Bollywood guy tagging along was a good idea for this film? Why is this guy so at peace while they discuss the impending end of the world, and whether they should do anything to stop it?

Why did we need a gay kiss?

WHY did gay dude say he's been wanting to clip Ikarus' wings? They were on the same side for 7000 yrs, until 20 minutes before that moment. Ikarus never imposed anything on them, always deferred to Ajak (outwardly), always worked with them. He just simply stuck to the mission, at the end. I could see "I'm gonna frick you up", but I never saw a reason to resent him. If anything, the resentment should have been towards Ajak for holding him back.

What's the deal with the Deviant? Was it special, or was it able to heal because it killed and absorbed Ajak? You start to make them the misunderstood heroes, then go right back to killing them; such a wasted chance at a neat twist.

It okay but really is a throw away. Marvel love DC and they been trying to create a Justice League in the MCU for ages. My bet is on a Hyperion movie.

The movie would have had more significance if Arishem the Celestial freaked out when the Eternal killed Tiamat.

(Which was a eye rolling example for pro choice aka kill the baby to save the mother. In this case baby is Celestial and Mother is Earth.)

Anyway, imagine if you would that Arishem freaking out because a entity was eating Celestials and devouring worlds with their embroys on it. That Tiamat was suppose to be the strongest and ward off the "Devourers of Worlds."

Thus then hammering the message of predator and prey in this case the Celestial was the prey of something else.

Then in Eternals 2, they battle Galatcus Heralds, then in Part three as they obvious wanted to do an Eternal trilogy they faced down Galactus himself.

If they could give away Iron Man greatest enemies aka The Mandarin to a throw awway hero like Shang Chi, they can do Galatucus for Eternals.

I think he was supposed to be the film's comic relief. Most of the Eternals were more serious besides the Bollywood eternal.

My assumption was that Ikarus was always a bit of an a-hole. But nobody dared question him. The issue is the movie never showed a glimpse of that.

I thought they were going to have that Deviant make a turn to actually assist the Eternals in stopping the Celestial from being born. His character becoming intelligent was incredibly wasted.

So lemme get this straight.

The Eternals (which let's be real, are just a cosmic, poor man's avengers with characters nobody ever gave a shite about), couldn't get involved in the Thanos war because the Deviants weren't involved?

THANOS IS A DEVIANT!!!!!!!!

(Or at least had the Deviant gene, if you want to get technical, but regardless it's bullshite, just like this whole movie... Which was absolutely atrocious.)

And what the hell was going on in the post credits with what looked like Harry Stiles dressed up as a bad imitation of Shazam. Man that was bad. Like really bad. And are we really getting a bad cgi leprechaun Patton Oswalt??? That site was straight out of Labyrinth...

All that leads me to say, What the hell is Marvel even doing now? Eternals made recent DC movies look like masterpieces.

Damn this movie was bad. It was also a constant reminder of how much I miss the glory days of Game of Thrones with Harrington and Robb Stark on screen.

And speaking of Jon Snow, who the hell is he supposed to be? The fricking Highlander?? (which was so much better of story about immortals its not even funny).

Guess you were upset by them speaking English in 5000 BC too.

No, it never did.

yes, it was. And they actually went 95% to that point, only to have the mindless "no, we still have to kill Deviants" moment.

They said "if it absorbs Ikarus's energy, we won't be strong enough to stop Tiamet". But it had already absorbed Ajak AND Gilgamesh... so without the Deviant they were minus 1 from the plan, minus 2 from the original team. Add the Deviant to the group (take Gilgamesh's bracelet for example), we're back at full strength.

Movie wasn’t bad but wasn’t good either to me. No investment. I think it may have been served as a series with more emphasis on building the characters that lead to a movie. Seemed a bit rushed but long at the same time.

Nope. Thanos is a mutant Eternal, at least that's the lore from the comics. I think he's still an Eternal in the MCU (Starfox, the guy in red in the last teaser) is his brother (don't remember if Pip mentioned that or not).

He is Dane Whitman, the Black Knight.
