OK.

Look, we have all known Ellen/Elliot Page is all kinds of fricked up for a couple of years now. Well we've known Tom Cruise is all kinds of fricked up for over a decade.

I don't care if she/he/they/it identifies as a rutabaga. Can they act? And for Page the answer is... kind of? Maybe?

She should just shut up and act. Juno was a cool little movie. I'll admit, I enjoyed it. And her role in it.

But she's really not done any 'acting', that I've seen, since then. Running around in X-Men, and trying not to fall asleep in Inception... hardly rates in my book.

I believe equal value should be placed on feminine AND masculine traits. Without them, you wouldn't be here.
Odds on Elliot Page passing on any of those traits = 0

The sad part is that people will have serious discussions about this and treat it like it's some kind of vital social issue, but it's not. It's just entertainment flakes grasping for attention. The same was always true with Colin K as well.

The sad thing is that a lot of people are very impressionable, so the "celebrity cool" fad of the moment eventually trickles down into the norm of mainstream youth and housewives.

I hate to say “that’s brave of him” because I don’t want it to sound condescending, but goddamn, to be a celebrity and open up on the most private secret in your life and to do it publicly, takes some serious fortitude.

As long as it is not something in the Harvey Weinstein/Bill Cosby league, there really is no such thing as "bad" publicity in Hollywood - they can quantify it. The agent says, "If you do X, it will yield Y number of offers for $Z over the next year."

It isn't any more complicated than that. Yeah, I know being jaded and cynical is life-shortening.

I don’t think I could weather the sheer amount of negativity thrown my way from cruel people. I’m incredibly lucky to have a ton of support and I’m just a nobody in the PNW; the worst comments I endure are pretty limited to TD. I can’t imagine what Elliot will endure.

You really think he's going to get negativity? I see comments all over the place like, "You were so cool before, but this even makes you moreso." Etc, etc.

Although I don't care either way, this is currently celebrated by the media and gets you more positive attention that just about anything.

Well, if being queer means you are attracted to the same sex/gender,

Apparently queer is an umbrella term now that includes bi, gay, and trans. So I guess it makes sense.

This. I think nowadays queer means "I'm different," or "I don't fit in your box," or something like that. It definitely does not mean gay, homosexual, or lesbian. I think the only people allowed to use it are those who want to use that label on themselves. Or maybe not?

So she comes out and says "I love that I am trans and that I am queer." Well, if being queer means you are attracted to the same sex/gender, then you identifying as trans or "non-binary" and claiming to have no gender renders "queer" no longer applicable, right? You cannot be attracted to the same sex/gender if you are claiming to not be either gender. Am I thinking through that correctly?
he's married to a woman

so, if Elliot is a man and goes by he, does that mean he's now a straight white man and his wife is now straight?

lol they've updated his wiki pages pronouns

Page attended a Buddhist school in his youth and practiced meditation and yoga.[81] He practices a vegan lifestyle, and PETA named him and Jared Leto the Sexiest Vegetarians of 2014.[82] He is an atheist, having remarked that religion "has always been used for beautiful things, and also as a way to justify discrimination".[83] He describes himself as a pro-choice feminist.[84]

On February 14, 2014, Page came out as gay during a speech at the Human Rights Campaign's "Time to Thrive" conference in Las Vegas.[85][86][87]

On November 10, 2017, Page alleged that filmmaker Brett Ratner outed him as gay on the set of X-Men: The Last Stand, when he was 18 years old, nearly a decade before Page came out publicly.[88] In a long Facebook post, he expressed gratitude towards people who were breaking the silence against abuse, and expressed his frustration at the pattern of looking the other way in industry.[89] Actress Anna Paquin expressed support for Page, stating she was present when Ratner made the comment.[89]

In January 2018, Page announced that he and dancer and choreographer Emma Portner had married on an unspecified date.[90]

if you only read this, you'd assume that Emma Portner was a guy

Interesting. Because nearly 100 years ago, 'queer' as used by J.R.R. Tolkien meant pretty much the same thing. 'odd', 'different', something out of place or unusual.

So queer has come around full circle, it seems.

What happens to her girlfriend?

Like you're a lesbian and you get together with another lesbian, who presumably likes women.

And then you decide you're going to start living as a man. What does your lesbian partner think about that? I thought she wanted to be with a woman? If you're a "man" then is she still a lesbian or is she straight now?

It's almost like everyone involved is deeply mentally ill!

That picture, lord help us.

It's a crime what the world has done to this young lady. Had she been born in a different era she would have been an extremely happy, attractive, well adjusted woman with a normal family life.

Just like we look back on the horrors of the past and wonder "How could they have been so f'ing stupid" I think one day society will look back at our era and think the same thing of all this shite.

I prefer to remember her as she was in the lesbian scene with Kate Mara.

I'd love to see your list of super successful trans actors that definitely "make more money".

I'm guessing I'll be waiting for that for a long time.
