Does anyone find it odd that Connie Britton played the wife in both Friday Night Lights?

I was going to post this hot take when I found out you also shared my now merely warm take

I admit to getting mildly irked that people presume we know they mean the soapy (but still good) show as opposed to the film (a modern classic)

Also- Brad Leland played John Aubrey, who was essentially just Buddy Garrity, in the movie.

as much as a I like FNL the show, I can't get past Tim, Smash, Lyla being sophomores during S1. That was clearly not planned and makes a lot of the early show pretty ridiculous.

Yep.

The show was better than a lot of what’s on tv but the movie (which obviously was based on real life people) captured that rural small town Americana culture more authentically. The show is like a caricature of the movie. It’s not terrible and has some of its own charm but not as good as the original.

I agree. She is all right. Recently she was in White Lotus and Rooster. Still looks good.

She could definitely go buy a bunch of meat for me because the whole town is coming for dinner.

Although the show is a great watch, the movie is more raw and authentic. The show is a little rediculous in they win every single game by some last second miracle. EVERY SINGLE GAME.

For comparison’s sake:

Boobie > Smash
Mike Wencil > Matt + Streets combined
Riggins > Billingsly but it’s close
Coach Taylor = Coach Gains
Charles Billingsly > Billy Riggins
Buddy Garity > Brad Leland

I don’t remember much hot arse in the movie but the show featured Tanya and Lyla. I also strongly disliked Jason Streets and Smash on the show. I can’t recall really disliking any characters in the movie.

I also ignore the show after Coach Taylor left for another high school. Those couple seasons weren’t very good.

I just finished a rewatch and I think the seasons at East Dillon are the best of the series.

yeah you kind of have to just accept the retcon for what it is and try to ignore it. Tim, Lyla, and Jason were clearly meant to be seniors in the first season.

Her character development in the show is so weird. She’s like a great gf in odd numbered seasons and a super villain in even numbered seasons. It’s like the writers couldn’t make up their minds about who she should be.

Seems like a pretty accurate representation of high school girls to me
