The actress took abuse for it because she was shocked, SHOCKED to find that people hated the movie that she had a prominent role in. The same SJW culture that begat the PC Shitshow that was TLJ is the same culture that infiltrated the entertainment press, and they fell back to the old standby of any criticism levied against a "person of color" must be chalked up to raaaaaaacism, and if the target is female, then we'll throw in a toxic heap of misogyny and sexism allegations, for good measure.

Dude, people took to her Instagram (which she wasn't using to really do anything with the movie) and harassed the everloving shite out of her.
The same fan base that did the same thing to the kid playing young Anakin. He was just a kid but got bullied mercilessly.
Yeah, if you hate the character - fine. If you're posting on the actor's social media and harassing them there? That's not on them.

Same here, haven't given Star Wars any of my money since The Last Jedi. I'll wait until there is a decent version on Kodi and watch it for free. Maybe when Disney gets their shite together with this franchise I'll see one in the theaters again.

I'm not saying that some folks didn't take the harassment of the Rose actress too far, IRL. I'm saying that to chalk fans not liking TLJ not because it's a God-awful SW film which makes AOTC look like Citizen Kane, but rather because the "white patriarchy/alt-right" literally can't even because an Asian girl is in their beloved franchise is ridiculous.
Anything conclusion other than the "raaaaaaaaaacism" blanket statement about the whole fan base must address the fact that the movie is incomprehensible and all-together terrible. Disney isn't going to do that. Period.

I haven't given them money since TFA, and I don't plan to. I haven't bought "merch" since I was 10, so this doesn't really affect me either.
Honestly, this entire franchise has the Chinese problem, and has since Lucas made the prequels. Stupid bullshite they put in there has had a lot to do with bad characters being created and general shittiness of the plots. Not that the lame-arse useful idiot producers, writers and directors don't have a lot to do with it as well. They know they can get away with it because they've done it repeatedly with shitty movies that still bring in huge bank because they have "Star Wars" slapped onto the cover.
With all of that in mind, I don't know why anyone would want to go watch this crap.

Darn, when those action figures went on super discount at closing toys r us stores, they were fun to buy in bulk as range targets.
