A long-gestating reboot of the “Naked Gun” franchise with Liam Neeson is finally moving forward at Paramount, landing a release date of July 18, 2025.

The currently untitled project will be directed and executive produced by Akiva Schaffer, who co-wrote the draft script alongside Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, reprising their partnership from the Emmy-winning film “Chip ‘N Dale: Rescue Rangers.” Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins are producing via their company Fuzzy Door. The new movie is based off the widely popular “Naked Gun” franchise and television series “Police Squad!” by Jim Abrahams, David Zucker and Jerry Zucker.

Neeson seems like a perfect fit for the ZAZ “serious actor goes fully deadpan” style.

I think because everyone involved has made funny movies/TV shows before and also shown reverence for the pre-existing IP they've worked with.

Since this style of comedy has been absent from film for quite some time...I'm kind of excited about it. Bring on the slapstick!

did they choose Liam Neeson because his name kind of sounds like Leslie Neilson?

The Naked Gun is my favorite comedy of all time. Airplane is a close 2nd.

Liam Neeson is very good at deadpan humor so I suspect this might be a decent film.

this gives me hope that it's not a full on "remake", but rather a movie in the same style as those movies but with new characters and plots.

One of my all time favorites.
I grew up on the Police Squad so I can safely say I’m pumped for this movie.

Leslie Neilsen was a serious and dramatic actor before Airplane!. Liam Neesen will be perfect.

I think Liam can crush this, we need more of this humor in movies.

I honestly feel like comedy movies have been dead for 10 years, I haven’t watched or wanted to watch one in that long.

I’ll watch this

I miss good slapstick. As long as they don't try to shite all over the source material or get preachy with it

Liam Neeson is perfect for this. Best choice they could've possibly made.

I'm actually excited about this. I can't remember how old I was when I first saw Naked Gun, maybe 13, but I've still never laughed at anything as hard as I laughed at that umpire scene when I saw it. Starting at the National Anthem really. I love Liam Neeson and he might just be perfect for this
