People don't realize how much of California is red. Its just vastly outweighed by LA,SF, and San Diego in terms of population

Exactly. There's a ton of conservatives and moderates here. People seem to struggle accepting that.

But for how long? Here in Idaho it's been absolutely flooded with Californians. And not the progressive ones.

Hell in my neighborhood alone we have at least 30 or so California transplants, all conservative or libertarian-leaning, who were fed up with the bullshite.

ETA: And damn that trailer was pretty good!

Texas and California forming an alliance?

That and the phrase "Three term president" gives me pause.

It's more akin to a series of vignettes depicting how various different people in varying situations are living life during the war. Much more introspective than the trailer would have you believe. A24 just edited it this way to get asses in seats. There's action, but it's not an all-out war movie like you would think.

Sounds like what a faithful movie version of World War Z would've been.

Sounds like the president starts some kind of dictatorship, they also mention any journalist who enters DC gets killed on sight. Something really terrible must have happened for Cali and Texas to band together. Also Florida alliance implies multiple factions not sure if they’re waring with each other

the trailer is almost at 250,000 views in 3 hours. there must be a lot of hype surrounding this movie.

It will probably be nuanced. California/Texas would be radical libertarians (Left and Right), perhaps with some religious fundamentalists, allying against the establishment (Trad liberal Dems/GOPe) who've taken an authoritarian stand.

That's my gut take from the trailer.
over the radio you hear "3 term President..."

I'm assuming Texas/CA form an alliance to save democracy despite any political differences

It would be about a two week war once one side realized who has all the food, fuel, and ammo.

Looks good.

I'm sure the righteous and moral side will be liberals though and the antagonist will be evil white racist coined as the conservatives. Seeing Jesse Plemons in BDUs with other white guys holding the leading cast of diverse actors hostage leads me to believe I'm right.

Oh, the director also says it serves as a an "allegory for our current polarized predicament."

ETA: I needed to read the comments before I respond to the OP. Looks like my comment was already covered.

Damn. Ron Swanson becoming president just proves any man, no matter how great, can be corrupted by power.

I’ll definitely wait till I get an honest screening of this movie. The concept is interesting, but I’m not going to pay to watch some propagandist bull shite.

If you take out Florida, there are less Republicans in all Deep South states combined than are in California.

At the 45 second mark it looks like they actually filmed an NYC scene in Atlanta.

So more like war is hell and the idea of an actual civil war would be a total nightmare for everyone rather than being super political. I’m sure that won’t stop certain posters from letting others form their opinions for them
