the 45 second mark it looks like they actually filmed an NYC scene in Atlanta.

A lot of the movie was filmed in Atlanta

I could think of a few southwest US issues that could result in a Texas/California alliance.

The one that immediately popped into my head was agriculture. California and Texas are two of the largest food/crop producers in the country along with the Mississippi River states.

A believable scenario would be some type of global famine where a tyrannical government tries to seize the farms, ranches and fisheries of the "producer" states on behalf of the "consumer" states. And ordinary people would actually go to war over food in an extreme crisis event. I mean if watching your kids starve to death is on the table, politics and social niceties go out the window.

But I'm sure that explanation is too obvious for Hollywood and they will go with some twisted political narrative that makes no sense but subtly reminds us that white, heterosexual men who don't live in Brooklyn or Santa Monica are the real problem here.

It could be a Cowspiracy...with a side salad. Texas has the meats, California is the salad bowl of the world.

”Three term president”

Definitely not a reference to Dems claiming Trump would refuse to leave office

President says the US military defeated California (ignoring Texas here because it makes no sense)

Obviously Republican president against the commies in Cali.

Then they say he used air strikes on citizens—ah where have we heard that? Wasn’t it Biden telling us we need F15’s and not AR’s?

Commies get to Washington and the bad Republican who refused to leave office has his white supremacist goons asking what kind of American are the journalists?

Don’t forget the God bless America mockery while Trump calls in air strikes

This is so stupid it’s unbelievable, and you people think it’s high intelligence filmmaking

assuming the bad guys are christian white nationalists.
i remember in the 70s when progressive/liberals were all about fighting the evil, totalitarian US government and those people were heroes.

i'm not going to be the least bit surprised when the president, FBI, CIA and military are the sympathetic ones in this movie and the big ol' bad farmers & country boys are the sadistic killers.

I have zero trust in this being anything other than the normal overly slanted BS weve seen for the past decade. White, religious Southerners will be portrayed as evil.

Anyone else surprised that Landry Clarke has been pretty successful?

People don't realize how much of California is red. Its just vastly outweighed by LA,SF, and San Diego in terms of population

more people voted for Trump in 2020 in California than any other state.

i have some friends from Temecula and Redding and they're even a bit to MAGA for me.

I honestly would not be surprised to see Texas leave the Union before 2050. Right now, Texas would have the 8th largest economy in the world. They would create a tax haven for corporations to flee the regulatory nightmare that is the United States.

Unh hunh. And the vast amount of government money that flows into Texas would stop. And companies would flee. And Texas would be a third world shithole within a year. If they are really lucky Mexico would annex them.

Take Texas would thrive if it broke away bullshite back to the poliboard.

Exactly. There's a ton of conservatives and moderates here. People seem to struggle accepting that.

we dont struggle to accept it. we just know that denominators matter, and there arent enough conservatives and moderates in california for it to make a difference in any way. your entire state is the deepest of deep blue and your cities are self-destructing. we're all watching it happen in real time. i'm sorry if you feel unacknowledged or something, but for all intents and purposes, your existence in california as a conservative or moderate is meaningless.

i'd personally be ok with congressional districts going to their candidate and the popular vote winner of a state getting the 2 senate votes.

it wouldn't change too many elections and would give republicans in NY/CA a vote along with Democrats in Texas, Florida, etc.

plus, how many people in Austin don't vote because they know Texas is going Red or L.A. because they know it's going blue.
