Not really, I think the movie intentionally makes you unsure of who is who and what the cause of the war is.
There may be more background audio stuff I missed that may give more context to that part , but honestly not sure they really defined any position or even who started the war. Lot of the info you get on the war is very passive references and tidbits throughout the character conversations
Glad to hear this, just went from a maybe to definitely seeing it this weekend. Didn't want to be pounded over the head for two hours about the correct political messages.

The first half is almost like a Buster Scruggs type collection of war vinaigrettes, and there’s some really interesting stuff and intense moments in those,
Sounds like what World War Z SHOULD have been.

are there any scenes that are comparable to the opening scene Saving Private Ryan?
That feels like an unfair bar to compare any movie to but it definitely has a few scenes that really put you in the front seat of the action and have that intensity, not anywhere near the same sort of scale of that Saving Private Ryan opener. There’s not a ton of sprawling war action that’s shown, focus is a lot more on smaller /unofficial gunfights and aspects of the country living in a state of war. I’d say the remaining action scenes in that movie are a lot closer to the type of action you get in this one. The ending 20-30 minutes is probably the closest to that, but even then the scale of the war in the scene isn’t really the focus
