Texas and California forming an alliance? Yeah right

I’ll watch though. Plemons as an unhinged military guy…take my money.

The movie is described as an "allegory for our currently polarized predicament"

Hmmmm

This one will be interesting on this board, I reckon

It's an A24 movie. This will NOT be popular on here.

Just FYI, several people have seen advance screenings and said the movie is nothing like what this trailer shows.

It's more akin to a series of vignettes depicting how various different people in varying situations are living life during the war. Much more introspective than the trailer would have you believe. A24 just edited it this way to get asses in seats. There's action, but it's not an all-out war movie like you would think.

Glad to hear. Didn't seem like a Garland movie at all based on the trailer. I'm in.

Agreed. One guy said he's a huge Garland fan and that this is his favorite movie. Another dude saw a test screening and said he couldn't wait to see it again in theaters. I'm excited.

I could think of a few southwest US issues that could result in a Texas/California alliance.

But there may not actually be an alliance. Just various factions of states that are all fighting the US government.

It will probably be nuanced. California/Texas would be radical libertarians (Left and Right), perhaps with some religious fundamentalists, allying against the establishment (Trad liberal Dems/GOPe) who've taken an authoritarian stand.

That's my gut take from the trailer.

You can expect the most disingenuous representation possible for this one, as usual the leftist will be portrayed generously and the "right-wing" side will be an over the top obnoxious stereotype.

The question of secession was never answered. Many in the Union worked to avoid trying Confederate officials and officers because they were afraid a court might find that the Union war effort was illegal.
I honestly would not be surprised to see Texas leave the Union before 2050. Right now, Texas would have the 8th largest economy in the world. They would create a tax haven for corporations to flee the regulatory nightmare that is the United States.
