Holy.shite. the majority of the characters are background fodder for Hugh Jackman and JLaw.
It's fine to be critical of the Marvel Studios movies- I've agreed with a lot of your points on CW, but to be so obtuse about the Fox Marvel pictures is absurd.
As an example, both Days of Future Past and Civil War had segments where a character was shoehorned in and then ejected from the movie. DoFP had a much better flow and worked Quicksilver in flawlessly without making it appear as if he was an afterthought. With Civil War, we're suddenly in a different film, Tony reverts to his Iron Man 1 persona, appears in Queens and flirts and jokes his way into getting Spider-Man on board. The guy who is all about the accords and going by the new rules brings in a masked kid and throws him into a fight with seasoned superheroes and then tosses him out of the movie.
That's the kind of thing that I'm talking about. The better X-Men films do have background characters and main characters, but the characters flow in and out pretty seamlessly.

there was literally no legitimate reason for Wolverine and company to leave Quicksilver behind after he helped break out Magneto.
that aint flawless at all.
at least w/Spider-Man and Black Widow you have obvious reasons (Tony realizes he's going to get the kid killed and BW needs to haul arse after helping Cap escape) for why they peace out.

Got a second viewing last night and noticed Stark cut off Peter Parker from telling his origin.
It was a pretty great self-referential moment.

I thought the movie was awesome.
First thought I had from the beginning was when the hell did Falcoln become so bad arse? His upgrades make him pretty awesome.
Spiderman was awesome. That's the Spiderman from the current cartoon, and that's the Spiderman I like. Spidey was kicking Falcon and Bucky's arse easily. I think people forget how super powered he really is. I thought he was perfectly portrayed.
Black panther was awesome, and I liked his story line.
I loved the ant man movie and Rudd, and thought he was great as well.
Didn't realize Vision could walk through walls and stuff. He seems pretty invincible, until Scarlet Witch is around.
To those saying its a Captain America movie, it's not. It's just as much an Iron Man movie.
My question is why the hell was there a camera on that exact spot on that dirt road?
I think this has to have something to do with Thanos. Maybe he can see into the future and knows the avengers will be his downfall so he's doing what he can do indirectly to break them apart. I would bet money he had something to do with Zemo doing what he did.
I also see a conflict within Vision. He seems to be doing a lot of thinking and not a lot of talking. I don't think he likes having that stone a part of him and will do something to try to destroy it, which is how Thanos will get it.
I think over time Iron Man will start to see clearly and the Avengers will be fine.

Not sure how you can say it is an Iron Man movie. It was pretty clearly a Captain America movie imo.
Sure Iron Man plays a big role and probably qualifies as the antagonist better than Zemo but Captain America is clearly the protagonist and it's clearly his story and struggle we watch unfold.

It was pretty clearly an Avengers movie. The whole movie was about the breakup of the Avengers.

Just wanted to post this in the official thread too. One of my favorite parts of the movie.

Plot was a bit convoluted with all of the "Team Winter Soldier" stuff just being a ruse to get the three of them in one place. Much easier ways to accomplish that.
Not really.
He needed to get them all in one place......after he got the incriminating evidence.
He needed to find and get to Bucky to make any of it happen.

I looked for that gif yesterday and couldn't find it.

I'm not an MCU fanboy at all, I only like about 25-30% of these things, but they did a really good job in what was also a little bit of a dress rehearsal for Infinity War in terms of the Russo bros figuring out how to pack in all these characters together in a way that makes sense and serves the story in a meaningful way. They did a great job with all the characters in fact except yet another forgettable villain. The action was fantastic and we weren't distracted with endles setups for other movies as the MCU is sometimes want to do. It's not the best superhero movie ever but it's easily the best MCU movie yet.

I think it was a pretty straight forward Captain America movie. I also got the impression that the Avengers would be stronger after all of this.
After everything they still kept their respect and appreciation for one another. Captain sent Tony the phone and clearly Tony wasn't going to turn on him.

I thought it was a great movie and really enjoyed it. AOU was awful, so I was happy they kind of turned it around. I did not see the ending coming at all. I was against Stark most of the way and then it all kind of flipped..

Yeah I don't get the AOU love at all. They finally had an A+ villain to work with and they completely butchered it.

AOU was awful,
It was on down the list of Marvel movies but this is an overstatement if I've ever seen one.

Yeah, I liked the movie, but didn't love it. I will be fine never watching it again.
I think they were too scared to go too dark with Ultron and the film, but I think they learned from that with CW.

Half of them had to go into hiding because Steve had to break them out of prison. Heck, we might not even see Steve and Tony together until the 2nd upcoming Avengers movie.

Yeah I have a feeling we might get two sides of the Avengers taking on Thanos.
Dr. Strange, Black Panther, Vision, Tony, Spider-Man on one side doing their own thing with
Cap, maybe Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, SW, Hawkeye and Black Widow on the other side. They all get their asses kicked because they are seperate forms of Avengers.
Then Thor, Hulk, Captain Marvel and the Guardians of the Galaxy join in on Infinity War Part 2 and the whole lot of them put their differences aside to take Thanos down.

It's going to be fascinating to see how Dr Strange fits into this.
And hey, another franchise that has both Martin Freeman and Cumberbatch.
As to the whole X-Men vs Marvel argument. Can't we all agree they are good movies on both sides. I literally don't understand the argument. Captain America Civil War is great and I expect X-Men Apocalypse to be great and the last 3 years or so have been a great time for movies!

I'm betting at least 1 major hero won't even make it to Infinity War part 2
