Well, the new movies outside of Rogue one have been utter garbage. The writing has been horrible. Acting has been horrid. The characters have no charisma or redeeming qualities that draw you in.

They simply tried to rehash the same character packages but with no ability to tell the story right.

Typical Disney. You see it in nearly all of their remakes. They've been awful if you watch them and compare them to the originals except for the Pixar films.

Not really.

The only shite movie was TLJ.

Rogue One is the best SW film outside of the OT. The last 30 minutes or so of R1 is on par with anything in the OT.

Solo is better than the rap it gets and was dragged down by the hate for TLJ.

TFA was a great set up for the new trilogy even if it wasn’t exactly groundbreaking story wise.

JJ made the mistake of leaving open the door for Rian. Mark was right, all 3 should of met up prior to Han dying.

I'd love to know JJ's real opinion on TLJ, if he really buys into the shite he has said to the press or if he thinks it's garbage.

Whenever people bitch about SJWs in TLJ and SJWs respond by claiming “white dudes feel threatened” or some crap like that, Rouge 1 is a prime example of if the movie is good people don’t really care about the “diversity” of the cast or making all the white guys villains.

What would really help Star Wars w/younger people is Disney yanking the SW license the frick away from EA and give it to a company that isn't intent of vomiting out micro transaction fueled games that give gamers the finger. Back in the 90s and early 2000s there were a shitload of great SW games that greatly helped with introducing the series to younger people who might not have seen the movies. Now all we have is a Battlefront knock off that is more concerned with draining your wallet for incremental PvP upgrades, a cuple crap arse mobile games, and the very occasional Lego rehash.

Where are games like Knights of the Old Republic, X-Wing/Tie Fighter, Rouge Squadron, and Jedi Knight? EA was too damn lazy to even make games that tied directly into the newest movies other than a couple of half assed Lego games.

Disney really needs to just start LucasArts back up and make their own games b/c EA isn't helping them at all with promotion across various gaming mediums.

I promise you that JJ hates Rian Johnson for what he did.

Rian Johnson threw away the blueprint, made a shite movie out of pure arrogance and hubris that has put the franchise on the precipice of disaster. He ruined one of the most iconic characters in cinema history because he thought he was smarter than everyone else. Also, Rian Johnson wrote JJ into a corner by leaving only 20 or so members of the resistance alive.

Even later than that.

The 2004 SW Battlefront and The Force Unleashed in 2008 were both great.

When the prequel trilogy came out, I was excited to watch each one and they made me excited about star wars again.

Then Disney bought the franchise.. And Disney will frick up a wet dream. I thought the Force Awakens was bad, the Last Jedi was better, but not much.. And I pretty much lost interest.

It seems like Disney keeps things basic.

Did something happen when Disney bought it? Lucas provided his scripts or something when Disney bought it, but then Disney decided not to use them and then wrote their own?

Kids want fun and cool. Not political bullshite. Just make good movies and fun toys and the dollars will flow

ETA: my point is the political stuff is suffocating the story. The kids can’t necessarily discern the politics, but they definitely notice the suffocated story and characters.

I agree with you except it wasn't the political stuff that stopped good movies from being enjoyed. The movies have been really poor...and the political BS just gave another reason to dislike.

I thought the toy sales decline began with the prequels.

People still bought them.

They have been non-existent with the new movies.

Who wouldn’t want a Rose action figure?

Maybe they should try making a fun movie people want to watch.

The original trilogy is a timeless classic the whole family can enjoy.

The prequels were a CGI cluster frick full of problems, However, 10 year old me loved the prequels. I had all the toys, the video games, the posters on my wall. I'll still watch Episodes I and III occasionally.

This last trilogy is an abomination. It's literally the worst ideas I've ever seen in film making in every aspect from the studio to the writers to the directors.

Who was the target market for Episode VIII?

I will unashamedly forever defend Rogue One. I love that movie. It's my third favorite star wars movie after Star Wars and Empire.

Very embarrassed to see her in that film and realize how closely she resembled my Real Girl doll.

I bought a few Roses for like .50 when Toys R Us was going out of business.

They made fun cheap targets with a few other toys.

I bought an X Ray, a Tie Fighter, the Millenium Falcon, and some figures for my little boy one Christmas/and his birthday. I had all those when I was a kid, plus more. The quality of the toys now is junk compared to the toys in the 70's/80's. Plus I don't think kids these days are into that kind of stuff. Just speaking for him, he's all about his Nintendo Switch and Fortnite.

As someone with a Star Wars collection with thousands of pieces... this is flat out false. This may have been true between 1995 and 2007, but the stuff put out between 2007 and now is fantastic.

The base figures aimed at kids are of similar articulation as the vintage figures, but have much better sculpts, more detailed accessories, and cool features like the Force Link.

The higher end figures in the Legacy Collection, Vintage Collection, and Black Series have better articulation, better accessories, and are better constructed.

The modern vehicles blow the vintage ones away. The Legacy Collection Millennium Falcon is probably the greatest toy ever made. My sons both loved it. The one area where vintage is clearly superior is playsets, which modern shelving does not really allow for.

The Mos Eisley Hero arena mode in battlefront 2 was great until it just became Jedi characters force pulling/pushing sith out of range since only maul had a counter.

The figures are mostly definitely not, you have too much nostalgia, the original Star Wars figures were pretty garbage quality.

All toys were inferior to the micromachines (both sizes)

Eta: except the diecast hand sized ships from the original release

If Lucas had sold to Warner Brothers, the DCEU and Star Wars would have been in much better places and you could make a case that FOX would still be around and may even be in a better position since they were a rumored buyer for Warner Brothers before they did an about ship and decided to cower to the Mouse.
