The fighting wasn't as good as other Marvel movies as others have stated.

The coronation fight scenes were awesome. The rest of them were pretty average at best.

I just got out of it, hot take, I thought it was good, not great. Defenitly shouldn’t be 98 or whatever it is on RT. Prob in top 5 or 6 for me in marvel universe. Think it’s overhyped a bit bc of race thing.

The only think i've taken away from your post is that you don't know how Rotten Tomatoes work...

The wife and I saw it this weekend, solid addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Aside from one or two not-so-good spots the fx were solid and eye-catching. The acting and casting were (as usual) spot on. The story was engaging and walked that fine line with the villain between being a true villain and someone the viewer could sympathize with.

Well, most folks don't generally use the Rotten Tomatoes method to rate movies. I think it's a bit sneaky to push that score, honestly. I mean, it's just a binary go/no go rating. At this point, most Marvel movies are a go, because they're usually fairly entertaining and they're moving towards a big show in Infinity War.

I wonder what BP is averaging on the traditional ratings?

Just finished watching this for the 3rd time. I love it more and more each time pretty much like I love Spiderman: Homecoming.

This was such a good movie. The acting was phenomenal. Everyone from Michael B. Jordan to Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong'o, Leticia Wright, and Andy Serkis.

I don't give a shite what anyone says, Chadwick Boseman is PERFECT in the role of BP. T'Challa is so awesome man. Like his dad tells him on the ancestral plain, he's a "good man with a good heart." In Civil War, he was consumed by revenge but ultimately saw that he was wrong in his ways and was just to Zemo when he should have fricking slaughtered him. That carries over to this movie, when he has grace and mercy on M'Baku because he doesn't want to kill him.

T'Challa - "Yield now M'Baku."
M'Baku - "I will die challenging."
T'Challa - "Yield, your people need you."

I may have said this on my post on page 3 or 4 but early Civil War BP slaughters M'Baku. He showed him respect, grace, mercy, and saved his life. He didn't need to do that. He does the same thing Killmonger and Ross. Didn't need to save them but he tried to at least with Killmonger.

The fight scene in the casino the first time they meet Ross was kick-arse

Of all of the criticisms that I've heard about superhero movies. I have never, ever heard anyone say that Boseman was wrong for the Black Panther role.

I really like Boseman.

I feel like Marvel does a good job in 90% of their casting but he was a top notch pick. Maybe the 2nd best behind RDJ.

I mean he played the role well but I don't think he's any better than Hemsworth or Ruffalo

I saw the movie last night. I haven’t read all 14 pages so forgive me.

I liked it. It was fine. It took me a loooong time just to get past the unbelievability of the whole thing. Yes, even for a comic book movie. These guys are just sooo far advanced but still doing all these tribal things, and didn’t feel the need to step in or intervene at any point? But I eventually got over some of that.

I really thought T’Challa’s character was pretty flat. I was much more interested in Michael B. Jordan’s character and frankly he overshadowed T’Challa in all their scenes. I don’t know if that is chalked up to writing or acting or what.

I thought his little sister was really good and funny. And pretty smoking, but I digress.

I could not get passed the juxtaposition of the whole thing. So these guys are so much more enlightened and advanced than the rest of the world, but they hoot at each other like monkeys? They still have these primitive tribal traditions of mutilations, blood heirs to the throne and death battles for the throne? That’s ridiculous. And I’d have to guess that there’s not a whole lot of stuff like freedom and individualism in Wakanda. Because that’s definitely the perfect environment for fostering innovation and development. I mean how fricking hypocritical is it to label every white person a “colonizer” while you sat on your arse and watched it happen?

I didn’t see a political statement being made. I just saw them setting up motive. I can totally get Michael B.’s motivation. If I’ve grown up in a society that tells me all my problems are because of white people and I find out that there’s this country in Africa that had the abilty to do something about it, and all I have to do is kill someone, I’m doing it.

Overall this movie just didn’t do it for me. I just can’t see myself stopping the channel surfing when I see this on TV five years from now. At no point was on the edge of my seat. The costumes, characters, visuals, all stunning. There just wasn’t a whole lot for me to root for.

Honestly haven't seen it yet, but want to. Pretty much never see a movie on opening night since I saw Lord of the Rings on opening night and a packed theater is bloody terrible to experience. Waited two weeks for Thor, hopefully seeing Black Panther this weekend.

I very much agree.

But that's a bit much. He was great but so are Tom Holland, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans. RDJ still sits in his own tier as casting goes, and I think Boseman fits solidly in the second tier with the other guys I said.

Christopher Nolan trolls Deadline:

He predicted Black Panther will be among the Best Picture nominees in 2019, which would make it the first comic-book movie to break that ceiling with the Academy.

Im just here to post a link Black Panther killing it at the Box Office

Im sure this has basically already been posted. I expected this film to do well. I had no idea it would do this well. So far, I believe it is the 2nd highest grossing marvel film to date, only behind the first Avengers.

I loved this movie. But I dont think it is nearly as good as the Box Office would indicate.

Its not that its THAT good, its because its drawing interest from people who would otherwise not watch a marvel movie.

Lots of people around me didn't know who they were talking about when Shuri mentioned "Another broken white boy to fix". The amount of "who is she talking about" told me that much. Or the "when did this dude's dad die"? when referring to t'challa's scenes with t'chaka or the first scene when he got back to wakanda.

Its good though, more interest in marvel doesn't hurt anyone

This movie was great. I'm glad I didn't read any of the political rants on this.

The movie was okay, but I was bummed that Jordan’s character died. He had a much more interesting story and I enjoyed his scenes a lot in the film.
