Certainly an esteemed actor during his time, but I have always argued that all things considered, he is in fact the most underrated actor ever to live.
Before he took up his craft on the stage he served in WWI where he was gassed, and as he claimed, cut the throats of more German boys than he cared to remember.
Just brilliant and mesmerizing in everything he touched and performed.

Another big vote for Mike Rowe. His work in How The Universe Works is mesmerizing.

Alec Baldwin. As much as the guy sucks and is a piece of shite in real life, he was blessed with a great Voice.
Didn't Baldwin follow George Carlin on the Thomas the Tank Engine series? We used to watch that. Carlin was to me the better voice.

To the point where he almost seems out of place for his era - he would fit right in the modern film acting style, where one acts from head to toe, line or no line, focus on him or no focus on him. Even Olivier and Burton (who were both brilliant stage or screen) seemed more suited to stage work and just let their overall skill, presence, voice control and so forth work to their advantage on screen when required.
Laughton? He wore every role as easily as a pair of comfortable shoes.

I'm going a different direction and am giving it to Bryan Doyle Murray

My favorite quote of Attenborough is...
“Human beings have overrun the world. There is no reason to suppose that our stay here will be any more permanent than that of the dinosaur."
