Ricou Browning back story
He played the underwater version of the creature and went on to create "Flipper" and co-direct several James Bond films and Caddyshack.

While working at Wakulla Springs in 1953, Browning was asked to show around a film crew scouting for shooting locations

Days later, the crew offered Browning the role of the titular Gill-man in the film Creature from the Black Lagoon
quote:
He worked as second unit director, stunt coordinator and underwater sequence director on a number of features, including the James Bond films Thunderball (1965) and Never Say Never Again (1983), Around the World Under the Sea (1966), Island of the Lost (1967), Hello Down There (1969), and Caddyshack (1980).[5]

King Kong. Groundbreaking in so many ways.

My personal favorite movie is Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein.
Loved this movie as kid in the 90s and my kids love it in the 2020s. It’s hilarious and timeless.

Is John Carpenter's The Thing considered classic horror because it's got my vote?

I started watching TCM and the old classic monster movies when we finish trick or treating last year. That may be my new routine. Something peaceful about no soundtrack and the occasional static crackle even if it is supposed to be “horror” back then.

I also have a hard spot for Kate Beckinsale in the same film

I grew up a big fan of horror movies.
When you say classic, I think of the old Universal movies with the airplane circling the earth in the opening.
Dracula
Frankenstein
The Wolfman
The Creature from the Black Lagoon
The Phantom of the Opera
The Invisible Man
I had Revell models of all except, of course, The Invisible Man.

My favorite classic Halloween movie is War of the Worlds, the original. Only because I love the hysteria the Orson Wells radio version caused when it aired on Oct 30th 1938. The Martians have invaded Earth!

Deserves a good modern version. Especially given everything going on right now from a science perspective.
