Lighten up, Francis. If you can't pick up on the fact we're fricking with you a little bit and enjoy it, I don't know what to tell you.

You have any idea the shite I catch because of my position on Abrams?

Get drunk and yell at the screen. A 10:30 showing, especially before Good Friday, should have some drunks, and if its as bad as we all think it will be, they'll join in.

I can't wait. I'm honestly very excited for this movie. Not Force Awakens excited, but excited nonetheless.

Bellowing its Deep Meaning and declaring its self-importance every minute of its two-and-a-half hours, the long-awaited Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice turns out to be a bloated, messy, humorless and thundering gasbag. It makes sense that everything about the plug ugly $250 million-plus movie is big, but did even the tiniest moment need supersizing? In the age of irreverent and highly entertaining films like Guardians of the Galaxy and Deadpool, is this really the best way to to reinvent a superhero franchise (or two)?

Reminds me of this gem:

quote:

"It’s a tricky process, setting up the DC universe, or Justice League. The credit goes to [Batman Begins director] Chris Nolan because he set the die for the DC Universe in a great way that I tried to emulate. I look at it as more being mythological than, say, bubblegum. And I think that that’s appropriate for Batman and Superman because they’re the most mythological of our superheroes."

"It goes to the mythological nature of the movies that we’re making. I feel like he’s right. But I feel like Batman and Superman are transcendent of superhero movies in a way, because they’re Batman and Superman. They’re not just, like, the flavor of the week Ant-Man—not to be mean, but whatever it is. What is the next Blank-Man? "

Yeah, he doesn't get it. The fact that Superman and Batman are modern mythologies doesn't mean they should be humorless or unrelentingly serious. I'm fine with trying to go darker with some elements of Superman but those have to be balanced and they are probably best balanced with some humor.

After all, the Dark Knight isn't the only source material, there's also this:

Not a movie critic, but it wasn't hard to tell this movie would not deliver.

I walked out of Man of Steel hating it. I went into it entirely misguided thinking critics were dismissive of it because they loved the Donner versions and didn't know what the real Superman was like. I walked out shell shocked knowing that all Snyder did was the exact antithesis to "Superman Returns" and glossed over every horrific moment.

Is there any possible way someone who despised Man of Steel when they first saw it will like this movie? I genuinely want to like this, because I love all the characters, but I've seen the writing on the wall for years.
