You hate MoS so much you have to bitch about it quoting a guy who didn't respond to you and was talking to someone else, about a completely different movie that he even was talking about. Damn.

IMO its better than MOS.
I kinda hated MOS because it wasn't Superman to me.
He was too conflicted and uninspiring and the dynamic with Lois and the secret identity being lost hurt also. Plus the killing.
This Superman looks the part, no doubt. But he isn't given much of an optimistic arch in this movie either.
This movie is better because it isn't entirely all about that Superman. His part is very similar, but at least we have Bats and WW stuff added to it.

I'm seeing it tomorrow morning at 9:00. I feel like its 1997 and I'm about to walk into Batman & Robin. So disappointed and I haven't even seen the movie.

You have no idea how happy I was watching the initial previews to Man of Steel. Granted, I wish they went with a different antagonist with Zod, because I thought that would only incriminate Superman being associated with a genocidal race. But everything else I was seeing was fantastic.
And then I saw the movie... Ohhhh....

I rationalized my issues with Superman in MOS by putting faith in Synder to develop a character arc for Supes over a few films.

Is Luthor as bad as I think he is? Really Luthor is my second favorite villain in comics. I love the guy and highly identify with him. I've just been bewildered with Eisenberg's casting. I'm guessing he's exactly who I think he is.

Probably worse.

I'm going to be completely honest with you. I think Jessie E is a really good actor and did a great job. But who he portrayed is NOT Lex Luthor.

From Heisenberg to Eisenberg.

Was there serious talk at some point about Cranston being Luthor?

Yes, some reports began running with the story that he had been tapped to play Lex. Turned out that was completely false.

Very disappointed.

This isn't a spoiler thread. We have two of those.

The critics are correct about the editing, pacing, and music.
Other than that, they're full of shite.
This was a fun superhero movie. It had it's problems, but the story was 10X better than Man of Steel. Affleck, Irons, and Gadot are awesome in it.
Superman is gloomy, but he's better than he was in MoS.
Luthor served his purpose but I wasn't a fan of the acting choices. Dump him before Justice League.

Just got back. Pretty much what FK said. Affleck, Gadot and Irons were great. Cavill also did a solid job.
Tried to do too much and the pacing and story suffered for it, but all in all, I enjoyed it and would (and probably will) see it again.
Some definite feels at the end.

Do either of you think that the addition of the 30 minutes in the so called Ultimate Cut could improve the pacing and story issues?
Could that extra content flesh things out and create a more cohesive sensible story like in Kingdom of Heaven or even the Ben Affleck Daredevil? (yes, I will defend that directors cut as a great deal better than the Avi Arad poo even though the movie is forever flawed due to his interference)
Or is it more likely the material on the cutting room floor is like in X-Men Days of Future Past Rouge Cut where you get a couple of moderately interesting beats and scenes that were ultimately completely fine to cut for run time?

Going by the director's cut of Watchmen, yes. If he uses the 30 minutes to repair all of the quick cuts and lack of segue we'll get a better movie. I can't watch the original Watchmen now that I've seen the director's cut.

My Spoiler Free Review: It is joyless, heartless, and one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It makes Man of Steel look like Citizen Kane. I'll go even further and say that it is the worst Batman film ever made. That's right, Batman & Robin is superior to it.

Insightful review.

Well, go into the spoiler thread to see my full one. I knew you'd like. Superman and Batman could simply take a shite across from one another for two and a half hours, and you'd still find a way to call it brilliant.
