MoS had a decent premise and story to tell and it was on the right track but it really fricked the execution up and left a ton of things on the table that needed to be cleaned up to make it a more consistent and cogent story.
Damn, what three years can do to someone's opinion on a movie.

We've been waiting a long time for Superman to be done justice and it finally happened. That was a great, great movie. The story itself was good enough and it held on its own. The action was amazing, it makes Superman Returns look like a stroll in the park. at Brian Singer. Everybody was great in their roles, especially Superman and Zod. This will be cherished by me for a long time.

He's not only producing it, but he's overseeing the entire DCEU. Every film at least has some of his input and design within it. Snyder should be kicked the frick out of DC like right now.
This. He's the DCEU's Kevin Feige. Only, ysa know, not as good. The sooner he's kicked out of the playground, the sooner we get good movies with these characters.
Maybe they should reboot by getting f'n weird. Do Swamp Thing or Animal Man.

I dont think it breaks a billion. I find it very interesting you were highly negative before the movie came out and before reviews. Now will negative reviews confirming your unfounded suspicions your entire tone has changed.
What games are you playing, sir?
Haha. My tone hasn't changed at all. Snyder stinks for Superman. MoS stunk mostly. BvS looks bad. It's a joyless world, etc.
I just think the cultural significance of the B and S and the v in between will make people go see the film regardless of how good it is. Just because I pump the box office as something huge, doesn't mean I've warmed to the idea of the movie. If WB doesn't hit a billion, that's a huge mistake. And if they didn't do everything in that power to get there.....
However, I now kind of feel bad for Snyder. I mean this is all on him, he's just in over his head. I do like his aesthetic in small doses, and I think it works in certain films, just not Superman movies. And he needs better partners in all of this. He does strike me as a geek who likes making big movies. I dig that.
Also, just because I was down on the film didn't mean I didn't want it to succeed. That was NEVER the case, I just assumed given all of the info, that it would resemble MoS, which, to me, would be a failure. I didn't want that, but I read the evidence throughout the BvS production time, not just my wants. It has looked like a big problem from the start.
Like I said, I wanted it to be successful, even with a bad Superman, to bring Hal and Barry on screen. Honestly, I was looking more forward to the universe than I was to Batman and Superman, who have enough films. I want the other really interesting characters that we never get to see.

They have to hit 800 billion to break even supposedly

I don't think you need to qualify that with a "supposedly"

Low blow
Everyone deserves their initial overreaction GOAT fanboy post.
Though I kinda hated MoS on the first viewing, called it what it was, and was downvoted into oblivion if I recall (same for TDKR)

I added supposedly because that's what I read on the interwebs. I have no way of knowing for sure.

Nah nothing voted on in that thread, so up/down hadn't been added to the site yet

1. The pacing and editing of the first hour was ATROCIOUS.
2. The second half was FANTASTIC
3. HC was perfect as Superman
If it wasn't for #1, this would be this years best, however, whoever was in charge of the first half of the movie should be fired TODAY.

Wow. Wish they would have listened to me.
ETA: and that was my initial fanboy reaction iirc. Didn't mind the destruction, I viewed MoS as an excellent alien invasion movie.

No. They don't have a Feige, they have a committee. He's one of four "Executive Producers" on Suicide Squad. There are multiple producers who are actually producing the thing.

My main gripe initially wasn't that Superman was a dick. I just figured Snyder/Nolan were going to dick him up and let that go (because The Dark Knight super serious blah blah)
The first half of that movie is a convoluted SNOOZE FEST. My real gripe about the first half, though, was Pa Kent and his characterization. It was totally the opposite of what it should have been.

Freauxen thrives on the hipster, contrarian position on these things. He likes tilting at windmills.

Well, I'll bet you a billion dollars they were never going to make that.
800 million is probably what you were looking for.

Crap. I took a beating in that thread.

Yeah no.
But nice try. Saying the movie is going to make money is nothing but an assessment of this:

That's a billion dollar movie, with a weaker brand.
